1 VII with better camera, better app and better auto - better then others, maybe just this one time best on market ?
No...
People pay 30-50% less for eg Samsung or Pixel because off trade-in or many others ways.

      It's just a shame the Sony still fail to put the best camera hardware in their phones. They literally make these top-end sensors. Yet, their own phones get lower end, smaller sensors.

          SoC gets more expensive every year( 8E 2 may be $40-50 more than 8E). Sony is not going to use OV cameras nor chinese oled to reduce costs. There is nothing else to cut besides 4K.

            To some here, like you, this is far worse than decreasing secretly video framerate while recording and then shut down in less than 15 min like too many Chinese phones.

            Btw, if even sony with small phone business can afford samsung oled and sony semicon cmos , then other brands that make more money selling phones should buy best pieces as well, not inferior ones just to reduce BoM ..

            My phone has a " domestic oled" and OV cmos, I can really tell stuff from SK/JN is far better .. Reason these components cost more

              Xperia with everything Sony is capable of would cost much more than Pro and Pro-i were.

              Same happens at Samsung. Have you seen any galaxy with same display tech they have on their tvs? Whete is blue oled for S series? How about zoom system like K zoom? Harman-Kardon tuned audio?

Odds are, it's because it doesn't Sony doesn't have the flashiness of Samsung or Apple, but it's a sturdy device that does perfectly fine as far as I'm concerned. I'm hoping that the new one goes back to the 4K but improves the screen brightness to be in line with the 1 VI.

                        My concern is that these are iterative software tweaks being peddled as an upgrade. The classic 'optimised to the harman curve' schlock. None of the leaks I've seen suggest that Sony have actually switched up components in the speaker or DAC. If that's the case, I would be very reluctant to upgrade for just an ultrawide sensor bump.

                          They lower brightness and lower the clock speeds HARD to achieve the higher battery life. If you don't see it then you're a normie and my theory about Xperia users being pretentious people was absolutely correct.

                              amiens80, 09 May 2025i'm still use the xz premium and there is no other bet... moreIn looks, yes XZ premium as a mirror is quite a looker. But even that is debatable considering that the purple vii option is an instant eye catcher. In everything the vii is better.
                              I have the XZ premium myself as well, and can't deny that the purple vii is just WOW.

Sony has always had potential to create the best smartphone out there but they never provide it. They have resources to create the best ecosystem, use the best sensors, displays, DACs, cooling system, etc, but never implement them on their phones.. Their stubborn backwards thinking mentality is why their mobile division continues to fail.

                                        even the photo camera (the resolution) is awesome whereas it aged from 5-6 years i think !
