YUKI93, 23 hours agoI feel bummed about it too as well. Sony could have leap ah... moreIt would already be a huge improvement if they gave the periscope zoom an updated lens allowing for somewhat sharper images.
So, not all is list, I guess. We will see what the reviews tell.

What I was hoping them to improve was the zoom camera. IQ of the main camera was already phenomenal from the last year and I couldn't care less about the UWA. They just folowed the trend. But the zoom camera IQ wasn't good and looks like it will keep that way. Not good.

A few considerations:
1. While it's terrific to see the UWA camera sensor considerably increase in size, the focal length of WA and UWA are way too close to each other. 16 mm is not exactly ultra wide (12mm or max 14 mm would have done the trick), and 24 mm on the main snapper is too wide for the standard camera.
A much more useful distribution would have been 14mm and 28mm.
2. 6 years of security updates is still less than what the competition offers, which is barely acceptable in a phone that is more expensive than the flagship phones from Samsung or Apple. It's an improvement over previous iterations, though.
3. Can't wait for the full review!

New phone, same problems... Availability and price* The camera is rubbish, it's only for taking pictures of dinner, your naked girlfriend and the dog... nothing else is needed for that...

Anonymous, 13 May 20251/3.5" OK, very sad, waiting another year.I feel bummed about it too as well. Sony could have leap ahead of the competition and give a larger sensor for the telephoto camera. But then again, it's not like anyone else is putting a variable zoom periscope telephoto camera in the first place. For me, it's still a huge missed opportunity for Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo to copy that idea.

1/1.56" ultrawide camera? I haven't seen that since 2023 Oppo Find X6/X6 Pro. Sony is in the league with the Chinese phones now. If only we get a larger telephoto camera sensor here.

Spoiler alert: No Xperia 5, not even an Xperia 10.
And while I wouldn't say this is overpriced, this is a niche product - perhaps too niche at that. At least they're promising 4 OS updates and 6 years of security updates now, but what about for the Xperia 1 VI?

The rumor was nonsense as is often the case. Available in Europe, including Germany and France, on June 12! I would take it in purple (not announced in Switzerland, but either it will come or the store will come without any problems). So delighted in purple. I still have this dilemma between the Technics (EAH-AZ100) and Sony (WF-1000XM5 and future XM6 this summer) headphones. I am looking forward to the future GSM Arena test (which at least spreads fewer false rumors.
