I don't think we should trust anything that google says, but we can still trust what AOSP does.

Just more vectors for Google to harvest more user data. Yay.

                Fact is:
Nobody hacks the phone of average people. If they do hack something, then it is going to be servers with customer data.
Hackers only hack phones if the target is a high ranking official.
So we do not have to worry and high ranking officials do not have to worry either since they have many people taking care of them.

The problem is that currently, many major players of Android are the Chinese, who have zero concerns about privacy and security. Even Oppo had a scandal recently in SE Asia for pre-installing a loanshark app without user concent as part of their ColorOS update. That's how unchecked these OEMs are. So Google bragging about security feels like tone-deaf if they do not police the OEMs who can put anything with system priviledges (thus bypassing any guards/permissions) in their firmware.

                          Security doesn't exist.

Getting locked out from your old account by the officials is the last thing you need in order to quit technology and go full Neo-Luddism.
