Weekly poll results: the CMF Phone 2 Pro is promising, but availability is an issue

18 May 2025
Also, not everyone was happy with the cutbacks that CMF made to hit its price target. "No OIS" was a common complaint in the comments, for example.

You should also add that the phone needs to have all of these "features" (gimmicks) with no compromises for $25 USD a piece.
what a joke

Yes, Linux superiority. tell me all about it, I agree. But this is not just a gaming device, it will be more versatile than that. It will be a second phone running apps / hotspot. You will be able to do all sort of stuff with it like payments, burner accounts, having your third and fourth line active on it for you to receive calls. Reverse charging other device, the possibilities are endless.

Yes, you can add like ~10 eSIMs to your main phone, but those won't be "Dual Standby". Most phones can only use 2 sims simultaneously, and even then: if you make a call on one of them, the other sim's internet data is suspended until you end your call. Not ideal ! That's why you need a second device for mobile hotspots alone.

    Keyword: VERSATILITY.

YourLocalPhoneCritic, 14 hours agonah, android phones still have better & larger screens ... moreAndroid gaming is cringe, if you run things on android you're paying taxes in background processes that's not necessary for gaming like various google services. Linux retro handhelds strip it down to only the bare essentials, especially with 3rd party OS. Why on earth would you need a sim slot? Android games are all gachaslop anyway.

Tactile controls ARE the point. Fiddling with a screen with no texture or sensory feedback isn't the best gaming experience.

Anonymous, 18 May 2025You can have a much cheaper retro handheld to do that. Why ... morenah, android phones still have better & larger screens on average.
(+ They're compatible with mobile controllers whereas retro handhelds have fixed controls, some of them are running linux, some lack wifi 6, some lack a sim card slot for 5g connectivity, some of them aren't even pocket-able, they're not as versatile)

Why on earth would you buy a 2nd phone? I can see the use-case of a 2nd phone for people who would like keep their work/personal life separate, but gaming? Really?

Darth Caesium, 18 May 2025Their interpretation of their weekly polls has been inaccur... moreAnd don't forget that the comments are heavily editorialized. Why?? When it comes to Apple, iOS or iPhone news, you can see clearly that a lot of haters comment rather than someone who is trying counter arguments with the hate comments. You can see the ratio as clear as the blue sky. You know what that means, more flame more internet traffic comes to this site. Something like clickbait on YouTube where you can see the thumbnail is provoking or something really caught your attention. But when you watch it? It's really not as what the thumbnail suggested 🙄🤦🏻‍♂️

They don't sell accessories or 128GB variants in some countries, bizarre decision

justasmile, 18 May 2025"Availability is an issue" Poll results: Shows... moreTheir interpretation of their weekly polls has been inaccurate and influenced by agendas since at least the beginning of this year. I don't trust this site in general anymore, they're being bribed or forced by OEMs to give them good reviews or artificially high amounts of articles for publicity in order for GSMArena to keep getting review samples.

They should focus on making it really good at 'secondary' phone things, not 'main' phone things.

What do people use a secondary phone for?
                        - Stream cloud games with a mobile controller (Wifi 6/7 is good for streaming/casting)
                        - Retro game emulation handheld (PS2/Dolphin emulation)
                        - Using it as a mobile hotspot (to save battery life on their other devices)
                        - Reverse charging other devices
                        - Playing videos/podcasts on the side
                        - Handing it to kids
                        - Connecting it to an AUX cable to play music in the car
                        - An Android Auto screen
                        - Connecting it to a projector/TV via USB-C
                        - Using it as a microSD reader to access terabytes of data
                        - instances where you don't want to use your main phone (for privacy reasons & because you don't know how to use the dual apps feature on your main phone)
                        - so cheap it feels "disposable"
                        - Hot Swappable Battery (with a stainless steel case)
                        - Reverse wireless charging to charge other devices (ie: turning it into a wireless charging pad)
                        - Two USB C ports so that I can charge it while charging other devices

Who needs a triple camera system or even OIS? I already have that in my right pocket. CMF Phone should live in my left pocket.

Focus on making it a glorified power bank, stop trying to turn it into a phone. 🙄

I fell for the nothing 2a which is not bad but not really good. A friend bought the cmf1 and already needed to use the warranty twice.
Carl Pei seems more like a swindler.

CMF really paying so called influencer a lot for review . Totally gimmick phone and company in general . Not a bad phone but not the best . If they choose smaller size , music jack and better water protection than gimmick design than i become a success . The CEO also looks evil now , creating reacting vid for American audiences .
