The comments section here knows what's up. Recently looking on reddit and youtube comments everyone is slowly moving away from Sony and trying other brands looking for better or different sound signatures that they can get and for a better price.

We've seen more popularity from Nothing/CMF, Technics, Bowers & Wilkins, JBL, Denon and so much more that I could list.

There's some serious competition out there and if Sony is going to be asking for such high prices they need to deliver on a no compromise product.

      and the XM6 may have 12 microphone but from sound test review, there are barely any difference on the 5. Audio call clarity is shifty in loud place ; unlike some other real premium brand.

      Lost NFC on 5, 6, copy function of others brand and not upgrade on it
      Price boosted in europe 470 lol when it was announced in for 388e on amazon page
      Europe should tax japan like US. a hefty 80% ; 370€ If you buy in Japan right now the headset. and was supposed to be 388e. 470 Euro they can FF themselve ; I rather buy 2 years old 600-800€ to have a more premium headset & ANC

      Is Europe supposed to take inflation cause for letting normalized price of others countries!

        As a designer, they have look more of a utilitarian now which really is cool. Getting 5 of this asap.

              3ogdy, 16 May 2025Let me guess : XM6 features PLASTIC hinges that break easil... moreLet me guess: you know the premium feel of metal and not the drawbacks of being more difficult to add swivel and ear cup bending capability with metal, the dents and scratches metal easily gets on drops and also the weight metal brings with it. Not to mention, more durable metal designs (to avoid dents) make the headphones much heavier.

              Sony's XM series are so desirable not only because of their sound, but also because of their fit on ears and lightweight design, which makes them easy to wear for hours.

              XM3, which my brother's using and I know how roughly he uses those is still working and have not even cracked or dented from anywhere.

              Good quality plastic is and will always be better than metal in applications where lighter weight is desired. Unless you use some exotic metal alloys.

                Seeing them on the dude's head now, I can say they are not ugly. They are FUGLY.

                      I will enjoy FR and ANC graphs.
                      Studio lvl sound, it better be non-high-peaky rtings response.

                            XM4 users still living in 2020, yes it was great by that time but is it 2025 and everything got better in newer versions. guys no one is forcing u to buy XM6, if you are ok with ANC and sound quality just stick to it. jeeeez

                                XM4 is a Legend! I hope this line lives upto it

                                XM4 is the second highest rated headphone on RTINGS.com beating out expensive models which costs thousands of dollars

                                  I prefer in-ear headphones. I wonder if the WF-1000XM6 will be released at the end of July like 2 years ago? A real competition with the Technics EAH-AZ100!

                                      I really wish modern wireless over/on ear headphones do USB DAC as well. They're already being recharged via USB, why not do data (audio out) by USB too.. The last time Sony did a high-end USB headphone was the MDR-1ADAC, and that didn't have Bluetooth (had to choose between the 1, 1BT and the 1NC).

                                        Sony peaked with XM4s. They literally created one of the best consumer headphones which can be had for less than 200 refurbished/used. XM5 is a flop. XM6 could've been a contender if it was starting at 399 or even back to XM4 prices.
