If they miss that step or something gone wrong. Your fingerprint might truly be stolen when you sell it.. or a mix of different fingerprints.

In theory - nice that Apple has steped in and is actively addressing the concerns and has made sure, nobody but you and your phone knows about that little secret.
In practice - everybody who has the encryption key has access to the info and the problem is not "hacking", its Apple and NSA close relations and possibility of "legal infomation exchange".
