Anonymous, 4 hours agoSMIC can manufacture 7nm chips, which are close to top leve... more7mm is still a long way off top level though. Huawei had invested a lot in R&D in chip design to get the best possible performance out of chips using 7nm process but it's still no where near the performance of current flagship chips. Xiaomi wouldn't be able to achieve Huawei's level even with the same process. Huawei's chips are also more expensive to manufacture as the yield is supposedly low from what I've read. Xiaomi would be mad to use SMIC when they have full access to whichever manufacturer they choose

They should have pledged some money to Fastrack EUV development in China instead

Tsmc and Samsung are the only two capable of manufacturing these 3nm chips. Xiaomi is certainly going to want to continue using Tsmc if possible for the foreseeable as they only viable alternative is Samsung. There are no mainland Chinese companies that can manufacture top level chips. New starting point most likely is just referring to their own processor as they did launch a processor many years ago but gave up on it for years

That's all!

This hasn't come out yet and it's already beaten Google's tensor, despite the years it's been on the market.

You guys are really outdated. Benchmarks are already out and this is basically at the same level as the Mediatek 9400 and 8 Elite. It has a 2+3+2+2 cpu configuration and has a mali gpu.
