"One reason is Apple's commitment to user privacy" That's really funny, because they collect almost as much data as Google and equally as much as Microsoft.

This is no good unless third party assistants get the same API access as Siri, i.e., ChatGPT or Gemini need to be able to read your messages if Siri is allowed to.

Interesting to think about the release of the 16 - it was like Samsung and Apple competed to see who could change the least on their flagship, and Apple won the contest - and Apple Intelligence and a better working Siri were touted as the reasons to upgrade. Neither happened and now Apple is 'considering' letting Siri be replaced? This isn't as bad as an exploding battery but blind brand loyalty is really propping this company up

Apple is slowly starting to fall behind in smartphone market. Makes me wonder if they can maintain their market value. The lack of vision when it comes to iPhones is worrying to me as a user.

Anonymous, 10 hours agoIs there a option to completely remove or disable Assistant... moreI think you can disable siri in settings. Just search for it. As for android you can disable both gemini and google assistant. Never used them anyway. And never used ai as well. I prefer to do everything in my own way. And disable everything I don't need or don't like.

If this is true, it's just the latest stark indictment of just how overly optimistic (or outright misleading, depending on your perspective) Apple was about the timeline and functionality of Apple Intelligence.
The challenge with replacing Siri with a something like ChatGPT lies in the level of access required. For ChatGPT to serve as a true Siri replacement, Apple would need to grant it similar deep system permissions, which Siri currently has. While ChatGPT is great at answering queries, Siri is fundamentally embedded within iOS, making a simple swap far more complex than it may initially seem.

Wow, that bad huh... LOL.
And Siri was not made by Apple. Apple bought it, and didn't do much (compared to what google did for with Google Assistang) after that, apparently.

Is there a option to completely remove or disable Assistant?? If yes, I'll definitely remove it! 🙄
