Microsoft did this ten years ago. Sadly, Windows Mobile os is no more, miles ahead at that time with modern features.

Anonymous, 22 May 2025Samsung will run two desktops, Dex and this?As it is co-developed with Samsung, I think Samsung will just integrate this into DeX, and still call it Dex.

I wonder if they'll eventually merge chromeos and android. It would require quite the rewrite of chromeos if they did though, since that's based on gentoo if I'm remembering right.
Also maybe this will encourage more manufacturers to put usb 3.1 ports on their phones.

On one hand, this is great news — finally, it might be possible to use any phone running Android 16 as a desktop replacement… at least to some extent.

But on the other hand, Google's SDKs and tools range from bad to downright horrible, and as a developer, I'm not convinced that Google is truly prepared or capable of making this work — both on the Android/platform side and the application side. There are already major issues with screen dimensions, proportions, and resolutions across Android devices, not to mention the vastly different target platforms from a usability standpoint.
