Now that XRING O1 has arrived, this Exynos won't help Samsung much in the flagship space.

I can accept a slightly lesser chipset than 8elite but, the scores are on par with flip6 and xiaomi mix flip. there has to be at least 15-20% power improvement

Wesker, 27 May 2025I think it's pretty obvious that Samsung makes a lot m... moreYou don't gain market share by delivering inferior products, so I don't think that explanation is enough motivation for what they're doing.
Probably, their own foundry is gov subsidised and selling at massive loss below cost to Samsung's phone division. That way it "makes sense" why they're so tempted to go Exynos despite customer disatisfaction.

If this prevents the flip from overheating then it's a win for Samsung. People have been experiencing issues following updates on their Flip 6. Those issues are likely heat related. This is the most popular foldable globally. It has to be the most durable.
When Samsung tries to be self-reliant they get dragged. When others become self-reliant, they get praised.

justasmile, 27 May 2025Looks like Samsung played it too safe and underclocked ever... moreIt's probably underclocked because foldables can only effectively use half the device for heat dissipation. Less of an issue on a larger device like the Fold, but a serious problem on the Flip, which is only slightly larger than a normal smartphone in the first place. Also, while many smartphones are designed to use the screen as a heatsink, this is highly undesirable in a foldable as it will likely lead to display warping, unlike with a Gorilla Glass display.

Despite posting any information that shows you have even read or understood the subject et al you texted....
"While it's true that some things are better late than never, a new Exynos flagship wannabe chip is better never than late"
https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_z_flip7_now_confirmed_to_mark_the_exynos_2500s_belated_debut-news-67904.php
Here is a portion of my response then
"Phraseology is more fitting a boxing match 😂
First off it's a rumour, but don't expect Darling Yext to let that go..
Amplifier & exaggerator of his hyped up Samsung prejudices (doesn't even own any Samsung products)
Dismisses Denier of ACTUAL independent. REAL reviewed & tested features. No proof offered except "observational" pseudoscience
Why is this relevant
Darling Yext has no facts to support each outlandish claim he make, hence no URL, my bad the source you will find is his keyboard
"Weak, as usual, but at least it's expensive Another pointless chipset from Samsung"
Every area Darling Yext comments on highlights his total lack of understanding of that topic. Instead of leaving this alone well you've guessed it, no knowledge is not a bar to posting
Spoiler alert it's a rumour, on X >51+% faked
'The Flip7 prototype managed a 2,012 single-core score and a 7,563 multi-core score, which is more in line with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3"
Greater than 51+% faked
ALL 3nm SoC have a higher GB6 than the 4nm S8G3
Architecture 1x 3.21 GHz – Cortex-X4
2x 2.9 GHz - Cortex-A720
3x 2.6 GHz - Cortex-A720
4x 1.95 GHz Cortex-A520
Samsung has increased the clock speed of primary cortex and reduced 3 others from the Exynos 2400 above to this rumoured 2500 (in addition changed the architecture, just the clock speed wrong?)
Another wrong another pointless text.

Would be more curious on its GPU, ISP, and NPU performance.
We are in a plateau, where faster CPU with latest cores doesn't really do much other than showing higher benchmark number.

I suspect it's underclocked in order to provide better thermals and battery life. That performance level is still plenty for a flip device however it's going to be positioned against the Moto with an 8 elite which will probably undercut it. I haven't seen a single flip in the wild used by a guy so I imagine the women who buy these things generally will not care about benchmarks.

as long as it means a decent battery life, i dont really care about performance. i love my flip phone, not the battery tho.

Its a flip phone, they can experiment with it as people using this form factor know that they won't be getting the highest end processor anyways due to space issue. Also, flip phone users do not even know about processors, they just want a phone which looks good.
It would have been an issue if this chip was powering fold.
