Apple is preparing to launch several new smart home products

27 May 2025
Apple might be late to the market segment, unless there's something intriguing in development.

Oh how neat, another baseless Mark Gurman Apple product update. Apple is working on new products? OMG, how does Mark do it?

David, 27 May 2025Apple HomeKit standard flopped and very few 3rd parties sup... moreThe HomePod Mini actually found modest success, despite costing twice the competition of Google and Amazon. The problem was that there was no real use case for the full size HomePod. It's not clear what the robot arm will do, but there will need to be a use case on Day 1, or it's toast just like the Vision Pro.

Additionally, Apple is rather uniquely constrained by their own product line. While Amazon and Google can put out cheap home devices with screens, Apple can't without cannibalizing iPad sales. So no matter what BoM Apple can achieve with this device, they will be forced to sell it at a premium, just to prevent people from using it as a stationary iPad.

They want to be Samsung so bad. And Samsung wants so bad to be them. Both killing their own brand identity in the process.

I was looking to buy a full-size Amazon Echo. I might actually get it. If Apple does release a cheap home display, I will look into it.

While EU fights to dismentle apple monopoly claw, apple continues to force it uppon customers no matter what.

              The iHousewife.

What, Apple want to become America version of Xiaomi? With Apple premium prices on everything, don't think it going to be success

iPad with robotic arm? Is it going to stuff the crisps into your obese mouth while you watch Instagram brainrot or what?

This isn't smart home, this is the last nail in the coffin of humanity.

Just like Amazon have smart home and can just lock you out of your home like they have done to people in the past where one guy had and order and was not home while the delivery guy got there and then the delivery guy was hurt on something and give bad review for the customer and then he was locked out of his own home

Apple continues to plan, develop and then cancel decent projects because they're "not good enough", yet they deliver (or fail to deliver) hyped stuff nobody asked for, such as Vision or "smart" Siri which then inevitably flops. They're losing billions in times when it's better to prepare for the worst and concentrate on your core products.

Hardware of HomePod is good. But the software was trash.

It got wifi and bt, but they choose not to make it a standard speaker.
It got a cool rgb lightning.. but no good way to disable the above touch pad. Making it play music 3am in the morning, and no child lock..

Wonder why they cancelled Airpower until companies like Dbrand roasting Appke for wasting their time (and pre-launch supplies).

Apple HomeKit standard flopped and very few 3rd parties support it so I guess Apple thinks it has to make all those smart home device themselves! But the HomePod also flopped so I don't know why they are bothering!
