Who is "Nokia" again? Didn't I see that name on a cheap wooden tombstone round the back of a load of compost bins once...?

With the likes of Note 3, sony Honami Z1 and iphone 5S its difficult to for me to pick this phone cos I don't even know much about windows phones all I know is that they have very smooth UI even if I loved the specs of this phone,it would be too risky for me

With the extra time, they really should put a 41MP in it to make the 1520 the ultimate Lumia phone, just like what Samsung does with every new flagship. Note3>S4>Note2>S3>Note1>S2>S1

The old nokia during the N-series heyday that splits top features for different phones should be gone

After getting tired of waiting for OTA update, finally manually updated my #Nokia Lumia 720 to GDR2 with Amber using using #Nokia Software Updater. https://twitter.com/jamikhan/status/379289458534670336/photo/1/large

But midrange was not probably that affected. In my view the high end phones were affected bcos of HW fragmentation ( different controllers,GPU's .etc.,) but WP8 phones were originally designed to have minimal HW variants so that SW updates are uniform and rapidly rolled out. Still i feel Android is not my choice for its lag in the midrange HW. But WP updates are slow to comeby, this is a fact...indeed.

uhmm, well, i own a Galaxy S2, when the Jelly Bean was released for some devices, i had to wait 5 months to get the update, and u say Nokia is late when they promise to update every Lumia by the end of September when it gets released in August?

Nokia is playing a clever game with OS updates. It has pushed updates for Lumia 520, 720 in not so sucessful markets. But with emerging markets we are just staring at bare air for updates for these two phones. They sell in millions (520, 720)raising market share of WP8 and Nokia. But they think by slowing down updates for the midrange, we would purchase 920, 925, 1020 or 1520. No it is bad pathetic planning Nokia. I hate Samsung. But now i feel they are a million times better in providing speedier updates for their midrange devices!!! Day by day my 10 year love and patience for Nokia is drying up :(

Idk why... but for some reason the first thing that crossed my mind was Nokia pushed back the announcement so as to coincide with that of a certain leaked Android device that usually get announced in October...trying rain on its parade. Might be wrong but i don't put it past those guys. I always get excited around this time of the year...Why u may ask...cuz the dawn of a new Nexus is upon us, and this one will be packing some major specs.

Anonymous, 15 Sep 2013Has nothing to do with Microsoft's WP8. It has to do with ... morePlease learn how to use WP8 first. I agree that there is no forward button but you can open new tabs IE and go back with the hardware back button. There is "UC Browser" you can use if you need forward button that bad. GDR2 update is being push out everywhere. It's not Microsoft that is holding back the update, it's AT&T that is still doing testing for Lumia 820 and Lumia 920. Many carriers already received GDR2/Amber update for Lumia 820. WP8 is a new fresh OS, not like Windows Mobile, so they have to add new features. Of course there are things that WP8 has that Windows Mobile doesn't have too.

AnonD-81729, 14 Sep 2013Nokia Lumia already has better satisfaction from end users ... moreHas nothing to do with Microsoft's WP8. It has to do with Nokia's handset performance. Nokia has had strong customer satisfaction for at least 10 years.

Anyone who's used WP8 platform would never be satisfied with it compared to Safari or Firefox on Android.

"Other scores of 9.0 or higher include satisfaction with reliability (9.2), text messaging (9.3), email (9.3), and Web browsing (9.0)."

You can't open multiple tabs, nor are there forward/backward buttons. You can't hit the back button repeatedly and then the forward button repeatedly and utilize the cache like you can on Microsoft's PC platform platform. It's a horrible experience and there is no way anyone who's used Apple, Android or WP8 platforms would give it a 9 unless they're biased. Excluding simple features from an app (IE browser) just because it's on the WP8 platform is weak.

Also, where it the WP8 update that Microsoft/Nokia announced and began releasing over 1 month ago? My wife has the Lumia 820 and she's still waiting.

Microsoft has a history of poor customer support on their mobile platform (of which I've used 3, starting with Mobile 5 on the HTC Dopod). With each version they've taken away more features (up to Mobile 7 you could still browse the file system) and been unable to fix major bugs. Not to mention one release they gave up on and jumped to the next major version.

WP8 has a long way to go and with MS buying Nokia, it's make or break for Microsoft. No other manufacturers will sign-up with them now unless MS gives them non-competes against Nokia handsets in certain markets.
