Jokes aside, I agree with most of what you said, but the thing is the periscope works not only in zoom but also as portrait and telemacro(which is higher quality than an ultrawide macro). 3x portrait is not equal to "move closer and take 1x", this is something you can experience practically. Probably brands are giving more importance to a periscope than an ultrawide in midrange segment due to its multifunctional nature.

Why the mini must be on pro level with higher end chipset and price? I'm a big fan of "mini" phone and still use my vanilla note 10 since 2019, now join with a Moto S50. I mean, as a smaller phone user, what I need is a good battery life, good camera and flawless user experience that I feel a midrange spec will be enough for that...

S30 pro seems nice. Other than the chipset, seems to be better than the 13s/t. You lose better display and UFS 4, but gain IP69, useful 70mm telephoto and faster charging. Also seems to be significantly more affordable.

You know, you can't always just "take a step back" or vice versa, like, when it's physically not possible for you!

Those "mini" phones are pretty good. Maybe the Zenfone 9/10 had it a bit wrong at 5.9-inch screen, but there is a market for relatively small phones. I've grown to dislike the generic 6.67-inch brick in recent years.
