Some also buy them for work and gaming. If you just want something for video playback sub $200 tablets are enough.

If I have a flagship android phone and a really powerful windows laptop do I need a tablet? What is tablet for? For watching movies? I have google tv streamer for that. So is tablet necessary for me or just a cool thing to have? Can't figure out. Never had a tablet.

They better update that OLED panel. Xiaomi's Pad Ultra can hit close to 1600 nits in HDR and so does the iPad Pro M4. The Tab S10 Ultra does a measly 800 nits in HDR.
