Apple is going to re-brand itself with the 17 series. They are releasing iPhone 17 in the year '25, naming the OS to be 26. What a mess!

If they're still reusing the same chip as the 16 and only giving it 8GB of RAM, then I hope they at least add one more GPU core and hopefully the base model comes with 256GB instead of just 128. Am I right?

You can even optimize and trim it further so on a laptop the battery lasts longer. And best of all, you own the OS and evice, not the OS owning them and doing whatever it wants.

Here are some realistic ideas:
- making the phone run cooler
- front LED for flash and/or notification
- 120 Hz across all models
- less picky to third-party chargers
- IP69
or they can focus more onto making iOS more reliable and usable.

Or at least if they do, then they just come out with some banal nonesence like 'well those people should be smarter and more tech savvy like me and get an Android'.
For a lot of people though iOS is the draw, so for them the iPhone is the only game in town. Apple knows this all too well, So they get to make decisions regarding hardware most Android oem's simply cannot afford to contemplate as they are too busy clawing for maket space from each other.

thats what happens when companies are pushed to release a completely new device every year. its very foolish in my opinion. 1 year is not enough for R&D department to properly create a new device. now that phones are getting crazy fast (antutu 3 million is already wild fast) and crazy cameras, there is no need for a new phone every year. but understandably, thats how it is and there nothing to do about it.

PS Vita, 31 May 2025Why not call it iPhone 26 to make it align with their software?Well, Apple might drop the numbers altogether. Seems to make sense if they want to use the Air monicker. So they might be just iPhone, iPhone Air, iPhone Pro, and iPhone Pro Max (or iPhone Ultra, which was rumored a while back). That way, their whole lineup (iPads, Macbooks and then iPhones) would be aligned in terms of model naming.

Hope the price doesn’t go up if it’s still just the A18 chip and 8GB of RAM. Honestly, they should make 256GB the base if they’re reusing the same chip as the 16.
