no Chinese brand invests in selling outside China. they get what they invest. set up a reliable supply chain, get in the market. simple as that. Apple and Samsung may not innovate but, they sustain the contracts with reliable distributors. Chinese companies are so conservative that, they hire no multi-national employees. I professionally work with them. they lack communication skills. that is why they grow no new marketing vision for many years. so, there is no competition pressure at all.

              Simple ..

Do you think vivo would keep their X Ultra as China exclusive if they were able to sell like 500.000 - 600.000 units outside China ?

              🤦🏻‍♂️

But samsung has lost it's moment and became to lazy.
Domination without competition in certain regions and old fame doesn't cut it anymore.
I've got older and I'm not into technology like I was before so I'm used to samsung software.
But I'm really interested about your opinions on how other brands stuck up against samsung.
Specifically quickshare equivalent and smart view functionality.

As long as Chinese high-end products remain in China, this will continue! Google doesn't even bother, and Xiaomi sells quite a bit, but it doesn't reach the numbers of Apple and Samsung! What I'm going to say has been commented below, and it's completely true! 8 out of 10 people don't even know that Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, and others exist, except for the phone nerds who visit this site, like many others.

I have a colleague who bought a new Xiaomi 14T Pro 12/512GB from Orange for €349 and he can lower the price even further with a mobile trade-in. Half the price and overall better than an iPhone 16e with quadruple the storage.

Samsung is the only brand I will buy. It was laggy mess but not anymore. Runs fine and has many features to play with. Tried iPhone as well but it was too simple and too basic.

PureOS, 02 Jun 2025Chinese manufacturers lose pretty big piece of cake with do... moreThis. There are tons of reviews of people praising Vivo, Oppo, Oneplus etc, yet in a lot of places they are not even sold officially. In Hungary where I live we have the big trio:Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, apart from that we have Motorola, Honor, Google has also been trying lately, but that's about it.
A phone can be great but I'm pretty sure the vast majority will not go the extra mile to import it if not officially available. It's expensive, has all the hassle and in some cases a phone with a different region can have problems with software updates not arriving.
Also don't forget the fact that this site is visited by people who are interested in smartphones - like me - which is the only reason I even heard about some chinese brands, I would bet the vast majority of the average buyers in my country have never heard of Oppo, Vivo, Oneplus.
No surprise that neither Apple, nor Samsung feels any pressure to innovate as long as they can dominate most markets with not so great value devices. In the US it is even worse, there is even less competition and it is a very important market with a lot of people being able to afford expensive tech.

PureOS, 02 Jun 2025Chinese manufacturers lose pretty big piece of cake with do... moreThe battery thing just isn't true at all, most people don't look at specs. 99% of people in Europe don't know anything about these brands and don't care. They won't ever hear about these brands until someone they know or someone in a phone shop mentions them.

If they want a new phone they'll just gravitate towards what they know like Samsung and apple because they have no knowledge of the alternatives. And even if they did they still wouldn't swap because most people don't care, they want something better than what they have right now from either Samsung or Apple and that's it.

I am pretty sure I read on all of these gadget blogs that the 16e was a massive success, proven by these usual fairy tale numbers? What happened? Looks like it is more likely to be Apple's last early-year launch.
