It's for protecting them from being sued by obnoxious people. It's possible that if you update the system software of a hacked console, it will be bricked. It doesn't necessarily mean that they will brick hacked consoles that connect to the official servers. In any case, if in the future, you hack your Nintendo Switch 2, you have no good reason to connect it to the Nintendo server because if you do that, your Nintendo account may be permanently banned. People who intentionally connect hacked consoles to the official servers don't have good intentions.
The Nintendo Switch Lite is the worst-selling model of the Nintendo Switch by a huge margin. Nintendo will probably release a Nintendo Switch 2 Lite in the future, but it's probably not a priority.

Anyway, it's a microSD Express card slots. microSD Express cards are much faster than microSD cards. The Nintendo Switch 2 doesn't support installing games on a microSD cards. It's more powerful than a Snapdragon 8 Elite device in terms of GPU performance in TV mode when the latter throttles in about 10 minutes or so under heavy workload. It has 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The screen is a 120 Hz 1080p LCD screen with HDR and VRR support.

Things I Like About The Switch 2
- MORE POWER
- NVIDIA’s DLSS >>> AMD’s FSR
- Better optimization than PC handhelds
- Better efficiency than PC handhelds
- Magnetic Joy-Cons means no rattle
- 90% battery limit charge
- Two USB-C ports
- Sleek, premium, and sturdier design
- Big and immersive 7.9” screen
- 120 hz and higher res than Steam Deck
- Switch 1 backwards compatibility
- Multiple ways to play it
- Great kickstand
Things I Dislike About The Switch 2
- Heavier than expected
- Overall ergonomics
- Library is still barren playing catchup to PCs
- More expensive ecosystem
- Battery life is pretty average
- Slower download speeds than expected
- Slower charging speeds than expected
- Won’t make a good multimedia device
- Lack of apps like Netflix, Pluto TV, and Tubi
- Can’t be hacked or it’s bricked
- C button can be confused for the home one
My biggest turnoff with my Switch 2 has been it’s heft and ergonomics. Coming from a Steam LCDeck which weighed 672 g since a microSD was inside it, the Switch 2 which is listed at 534 g with Joy-Cons still feels heavier. And only recently, I had a Switch OLED which I sold 3 days later and the NS2 still feels significantly heavier. It’s mainly due to the NS2 being dense.
The reasons the Steam Deck feels more comfortable are because it has better weight distribution and the grips from the sides. All the weight and thickness are coming from the sides. Perhaps that’s why the Steam Deck is so wide. It helps with weight distribution and balance. The middle part which is the screen is the thinnest and lightest part. While the NS2 feels heavier no matter where I rest my palms. It’s like holding a thinner Wii U GamePad which was pretty heavy at 491 g. I feel like I’m holding a small lunch tray.
There are workarounds to the uncomfortable ergonomics: Bluetooth controller or tabletop mode with Joy-Cons on each hand. But then if I do that, I can’t enjoy the screen closer to my face to feel more immersed. Another option is to buy JC replacements which adds the Steam Deck-like grips. But third-party accessories are still slim pickings this early. No matter where I position my hands, it just feels heavy and the flat back makes holding it feel awkward every time. This thing needs a Lite model fast!

How dare Nintendo release a 2025 handheld device that has both a micro SD slot and a 3.5mm audio jack! This will anger the powers that be, for breaking the status quo. Then again the Nintendo switch 2 is not a flagship specced device.

By the way, the GPU performance of the RedMagic 10S Pro drops to about 77% with fan on: https://gsmarena.com/redmagic_10s_pro_benchmarks_and_throttling_tests_-news-68118.php
This doesn't necessarily mean that the GPU throttles to about 77% of the peak performance, though, because the best loop score may not be the peak performance. The performance may drop even in the best loop. It means that the GPU throttles to at least about 77% of the peak performance.

I don't know if this employee is doing this out of stupidity or malice.

Is it hacked or exploited?

Finally, iFixit and JerryRigEverthing did a tear down of the device.
Joystick drift will still be an issue for the Switch 2, as it is still using the same joystick tech as the Switch 1.
No wonder why Nintendont made the current TOS.
So that customers can not sue Nintendont for their incompetence / factory production defect.
iFixit repair score for the Switch 2 is 3 / 10 (as of June 6 2025).

He's comparing a phone SOC that also has other components like ISP, modem, ai, etc, to a concole cpu in docked mode. And even then the console cpu loses, unless the phone cpu throttles.

Let's say the sustained performance of your Snapdragon 8 Elite device after about 10 minutes of playing a demanding game is 75% of maximum performance, the peak sustained performance is about 2.534 TFLOPS. The GPU performance of the Nintendo Switch 2 in TV mode is 3.09 TFLOPS, and the performance won't be reduced even after playing a demanding game continuously for 8 hours.

Hemedans, 06 Jun 2025What do you understand by throttle? You are taking like thr... moreNo, the Nintendo Switch 2's SoC doesn't throttle. Throttling occurs when a CPU/GPU overheats and automatically reduces performance to cool itself down. It's a feature to prevent hardware damage. This is why gaming phones have higher sustained performance than normal phones because they have active cooling, so they need to reduce less performance or throttle less. The Nintendo Switch 2 doesn't throttle when handheld mode is engaged. It purposely reduces performance to have acceptable battery life. Anyway, I mean that the Nintendo Switch 2 outperforms the Snapdragon 8 Elite in TV mode in terms of GPU performance when the latter throttles in about 10 minutes. You can connect a Snapdragon 8 Elite device to a TV.
