      I don't need the phone to have the fastest cpu/gpu as long as the UI is buttery smooth. I don't play games on my phone. Camera performance is my main priority, followed by smooth UI, and then screen quality.

Eve... moreThere’s nothing wrong with offering more choices, but Huawei seriously needs to acknowledge just how far behind their SoC is compared to the competition. Yeah, people in China love Huawei, but they also love Xiaomi, Oppo, and vivo. Maybe not as passionately, but still.

          You can’t drop a $1200+ phone with a chip that performs around 400% worse in GPU and around 90% worse in CPU (both single and multi-core) than literally every other flagship, and expect people not to raise an eyebrow. Innovation? Sure, Huawei’s doing some cool stuff - just like they were 6–8 years ago. But back then, their performance matched the price.

          No one’s asking them to sell the Pura 80 Ultra for pocket change, but at least knock $200 off. Because yes, the camera is fire, but is it 400% better than what the Xiaomi 15 Ultra or vivo X200 Ultra offer? Nope. Yet that’s exactly the gap in chip performance, while the price remains the same. That math ain’t mathing. 🙃

            Pura 80 performance is fantastic for all except some fanatical gamers. Note that Harmony OS is way better optimized than other mobile OSes so that everything on screen is quick and buttersmooth making the load on the hardware running basic services low. Then there is superb photography hardware/software beating any and all competition. The aspect which exists but it is not important for the Chinese market is an Android emulator. This allows to be in Harmony unreachable for the "democratic" backdoors and only in some necessary cases jumping to and leaving Android asap. Makes it very attractive proposition for the "free" world but of course vulnerable to total ban under missing backdoor scrutiny .

Even the most rich people feel uncomfortable to pay even small amounts. If you afford it and wanted you can buy it. If not, don't. That's all. It's better to have choices

Xiaomi proved that China is doing excellent on design, but lack the production systems. According to some rumors, in 2026, smic is going to produce 3nm chips. If true, will be a huge improvement.
                  Another thing is that even before the ban Huawei didn't have the most powerful chip, but they had the smoothest interface

                    I remember when Apple had slower hardware and no one cared because it was about the experience. When you have your own ecosystem and it works well, then it doesn't matter if what specs your hardware has.

                      They need to reel it in with the pricing. Especially considering how big Qualcomm is and also Mediatek is in the competition as well!

                          I understand their struggle.. but like 😬 for the prices that they are asking, I'm not sure if I'd feel comfortable settling for that chipset, even if it's not necessarily slow..

                            Makes me mad it does with the big bully Trump having control over who can make what in the world. Surely Huawei could use TSMC?? Why should Trump and America be the dictator commanding what companies can do?? Who needs America??

                              Yeah, they already hit the wall in their chipset development.
                              They just keep adding few billions more transistors every generation without shrinking the size of them and call it an upgrade.
                              I don't blame them though, that's the best they can do with all the unfair sanctions.

                                  Basically the same SoC as in the Mate X6, and GSMArena has reviewed that foldable phone before.

                                    I am sure huewei is proving to the tech world that all of these new chips like 8 gen x and elite varients are all software and not real... Phones don't lag because of poor processors but cos of pre-program encoded in the OS to make the phone under perform with time, enough to prove the so called new chipsets valid on or faster.. Rewind time to 2019, get a brand new s20 and see how smooth it runs.. But same s20 brand new will under perform cos the hidden bug works with time..
