Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra could get a massive camera upgrade

I can count on all my fingers how many times I've actually taken a 50MP or a 200MP shot, as an intentional necessity, instead of just testing it. And testing it has proven that between 12/50/200MP the color/contras/processing differences as so wildly different, usually worse for 50MP & then 200MP shot.

The disadvantages don't end there, due to the pixels for the sensor being so many and so small, they seemingly have less surface area to capture photons, and the pixel binning 16:1 takes a lot of resources, it seems, because taking just a few quick snaps heats the Samsung significantly.

    We need Massive design upgrade like from S21 ultra to S22 Ultra.

      If there's one thing I know about Sony sensor, is that the probability of slower shutter speed even at that high megapixels is basically lowered. So less likely you'll get blurred photos when taking pictures. But not zero. Just lowered. It's not just the size that counts but the sensor readout. Sony is just better at that mostly.

        For 320Mp and the likes, you need also a lot of processing and tests - most importantly for the colors - and it seems 1/1.1'' is a limit for now with them lagging in battery tech, they need that space.
        As well as they want to release it slimmer.
        So, for faster charging, bigger battery, better tele camera, you will need to wait more than 1 year.

            Anonymous, 13 Jul 2025What 12 MP camera?10mp 3x is probably gonna change to 12mp. So the only major upgrade is main camera quality (if it was lacking some).
            Real upgrades needed were however getting better hi res on ultrawide and having higher resolution tele or better optical zoom.
            So the real next gen will be probably S27Ultra.

                  A high res sensor at that size would be pretty dope. Hopefully the 3x finally gets an upgrade at some point

                          Again I checked 40 articles and almost exactly half were only Samsung articles/something involving Samsung, again big difference Vs a couple of articles on a phone actually releasing/out and needing a bit of information. This has been getting worse over the last few years (using this site since about 2011 so I've seen the difference of how prioritied Samsung have become here).

                                  That is sad when a flagship Samsung phone will be using a Sony sensor. It won't be long when Sony will have monopoly of the phone camera sensor business. Omnivision will be the possible competitor. It's a downhill for Samsung from here on out.

                                    I lost my trust buying any Samsung products anymore. They are just expensive and outdated. I am way much more happier with my Chinese phone than my S25U which mostly just on my table. It's super boring and lifeless to me like an ordinary phone and nothing special. So backward innovation and unimaginative piece of crap. I tried to sell but nobody wants to buy. The battery is the same with one day life or less in reality. The camera, no matter I shoot is so boring.

                                        Non-data tests are therefore quite useless as phones always have a sim and are always looking for a network and sucking battery. Lover Of Tech's tests are vital imo.
