Besides, it's not like those phones sell enough to have widespread issues lmao

Eno2, 19 Jul 2025My point (as in the original post) is the K (from thousand)... moreBut again, this is how the naming convention has worked for years. The K resolution naming has replaced the previous 'p' naming. So a 2K screen = 1440p, 4k=2160p, 1.5K= something in between FHD and QHD.

Same thing as the camera sensor sizes, a 1" sensor is not actually 1", it's just the naming convention that's been used forever.

Eduard33, 18 Jul 2025And they've ditched them, so what's your point? My point (as in the original post) is the K (from thousand) resolution nomenclature utilized without understanding it by some, is incorrect. It doesn't matter how many use it wrongly it's still incorrect and makes no sense.

1,5K translates in a screen with 1500 pixels on the long end. It is absurd to name this way a screen with 2800 pixels on the long end, which correctly should be called a 2,8K screen.

For instance, they can use a wide focal length and crop to give off the illusion of a main camera by default, and use several digital zoom adjustments for the end-user's liking. And given that these phones are intended for the enthusiasts, there's notably a less risk of being used for rough use as rugged devices, so they can try to implement a periscope telephoto lens, an ultrawide mode together in a 1-inch sensor. Using a single lens also reduces the risk of having many moving parts separately, and may aid in easier repairability and cost savings as well.

Not only it is useless for most people (I can't fully "enjoy" 4k content on a 7 inch screen or less), it also wasting more resources (cpu/gpu power, buffer memory, etc) and drains your battery much faster than a standard full HD or 2K screen.

It'd be tough to do that with phones i think, they'd be thicker than necessary. I'm not saying it's impossible, innovation is definitely possible. But it's a high risk low reward type thing.

I mean look at the "enthusiasts" of this site, they dont even care about good quality photos and can be fooled into liking Samsung's 1/3.94" 10 MP 3x shots.

A necessary feature for the future of cameraphones, but something that the masses and the "enthusiasts" wouldnt care much for outside of marketing speak.

That would make more sense than having separate cameras, that end up taking extra space needed for a bigger battery, better cooling, or even niche features exclusive to any brand or older devices.

They're intentionally nerfing the pro to make the ultra look better. I personally think the Ultra is already the best cam out there. iPhone's videos are better but not so much better so as to consider it a better cameraphone. The Vivo's photos are SO much better that it balances out the minor video deficiencies.

And in order to actually beat all batteries, Vivo needs to put in dual cell fast charging.
