Every teacher (and parent who have school-age kids) here were forced to buy smartphone (or tablet, or laptop) just to be able to continue with the schooling, even if it means they have to borrow money with high interest. Having an affordable options that fit their budget was such a blessing for some people - even if the specs are garbage to you.
Of course they can also buy second hand phones, but then what will happen when it suddenly broke? with no warranty, they need to buy another one and that become a big PITA...

That’s why I was a bit surprised. But I get people like those exist. But I still think this Itel is ewaste even for poor people. They would be better served with a 2017 -2018 j series phone. I heard these are quite popular and people still buy it. I’m pretty sure the price is the same.

there's absolutely no reason to put ai this ai that into something this simple and 100% guaranteed people won't be using that feature at all... at least provide them with a plentiful of software updates to keep it running ....
for the price im not complaining, there's a lot of people who barely use their phones for anything other than socials and calls

obviously those salaries often happen in low tier income 3rd world countries...

The first HMD phones after the departure from Nokia sucked but nowadays, they DO have some unique, perfectly fine phones to offer. That's not something anybody could say about Itel.

If i have a phone company, i will never release any under 100 bucks phone, cuz i can add a bit more good stuff in a 100 bucks low-end. We all know we can't ask more with 70 bucks, but they shouldn't release this tr@sh instead. There're a lot of low-end and old mid or flagship better than this
