I genuinely thought phones only used anything below 15w to just keep the phone alive but it seems something as draining as media playback can even use as little as 5 watts.       so you want to use these media engine, display, modem, speaker, throttling etc and assume its cpu or gpu of soc, thats wrong, correct way is what geekerwan doing.

      also phone use 1-2 watts all the time thats why our phones have around 20wh batteries and we get 6-10 hours of SOT, no phone use 15W, whatever soc which give you better perfomance at 5W and below is better

            I meant 3 and accidentally wrote 4. I believe my comment is very clear and it's obvious what I meant if you just replaced 4 with 3.

            - gaming
            - calls
            - video playback
            - browsing

            These things either don't count as 'low power' or aren't accurate measures.

            What else then is 'low power'. I'm not talking about mechanisms or anything of the sort. But 'low power' usage. When people talk about low power usage, they're talking about scenarios in which a consumer will use the phone in a state one considers low power.

            Not some exclusively theoritical mechanistic point that doesn't apply to anyone.

            These are insane hypothetical scenarios that no consumer can achieve. What consumer is achieving below 15w on a device? What exactly are they doing with it?

                Also Gsmarena don't measure Low power perfomance, that's battery test.

                1. Video test it depend with media chip, it's not even cpu or gpu based, if you have efficient display and media chip you ace it.

                2. Call test it depend with modem efficiency

                3. Only browsing test you can measure cpu efficiency and even it it's not good measure 100% as each Oem has their own way of throttling during browsing, like Oneplus disable big cores completely you get better battery while browsing and midrange experience because single thread perfomance is low.


                To see low power perfomance go to Geekerwan reviews youtube, he measure perfomance at each power level from 1 watt to over 10 watts so you can expect what perfomance you are getting at certain power level.

The nothing phone 4 gets beaten by even something like the s25+ or even something as outdated as the Nord 4. Arguing for low power is even worse because if you switch GMSarena's gaming dial to 0, the difference is even more apparent.

                      I literally told you. Go to any GMSARENA review of any phone with the chip and you'll see that adjusted for battery capacity or software, at most, it is average and usually it is below average

                        I was quick to read this since this is a cheaper phone with integrated fan but the thermal throttling to 60 to 64% during 1 hr stress test is very bad. For reference, the Poco F7, having similar SoC, only throttled around 75% of performance using passive cooling (no fan).

Want a powerful device but will whine about overheating once the feel the back housing get warm. Never mind that youtube testers clearly show what the temps are during stress test.
                                They also want long battery life while playing at 120hz, dual 5G connection, max game settings, brightness and no coolers.

                                  And afaik, gamers are pesky about battery life. So I doubt Oppo slacked on battery life optimization on this phone, which they clearly want to sell to gamers.

                                    It's a nice alternative to the iQOO Neo phones. The high sustained GPU performance here seems on par with that of the average 8 Elite phones. That's saying something!
