Yes, OS optimizations are better, but they certainly DO NOT double efficiency in RAM or ROM. At the end of the day, does this not only benefit Apple? They're the ones saving the money by cutting corners and charging full price. Why not optimize the phone and provide you with that extra storage?
Don't justify the sleezy practices of any company. Apple has crafted a tightly knitted ecosystem, designed with control over every aspect of the software and hardware. It's sure to be optimized by anyone competent. But you lose a lot of features removing yourself from a more free and open-source operating system. Hardware on Android devices has competed just fine. Making nuanced distinctions between products in a fair and productive way allows us to make better purchasing decisions. I don't garner any hatred for Apple, but I won't cater to them.
Fight for what benefits the consumer.
