Galaxy S26 Ultra to use the same 5x telephoto camera as the S25 Ultra

arhwarts, 01 Oct 2025Apples 5x is not real 5x it's 4x + digital zoom.That's for the current iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max. Last year's iPhone 16 Pro/Pro Max and 2023's iPhone 15 Pro Max have a native 5x zoom camera.

I still don’t get how Samsung shows off new sensor every year and then doesn’t use them. S25 ultra should have had Jn5 selfie, hp9 for 5x tele. The 3x should have been upgraded to a 50mp like the ultrawide.
S26 ultra should have 1 inch main
S27 ultra 1 inch main 1/1.3 ultrawide 1/1.3 telephoto with optical zoom combing the space of the 3x and 5x. Here is great roadmap for Samsung/. Would be one of the best camera phones around. But they won’t/

Not really, only if we talk about the sensor.
Aperture gonna change from f3.4 to f2.9 .
Not that it won't make you droll for 200mp.
After their promise to be more exciting and competitive to chinese brands, this is quite a letdown...
Imagine that even apple got f2.8, so bigger aperture now.
But still, its not so bad as their folds, 12mp200mp10mp.
I still wonder how they manage to sell that, is it just because there is no other foldable officially in the West?

The only reason people still buy Samsung Ultra Phones is that it has an in-built Stylus Pen. People will buy Chinese phones for the camera.

The S22 Ultra used smaller sensors, 1/3.52" rather than 1/3.24". My S21 Ultra's 10x is already borderline unusable in anything less than perfect lighting so I'd hate to know what the newer sensor is like.

that is good lighting, take a bit of light and samsung can't see sh, long range zoom needs stabilisation too and vivo also wipes the floor with samsung on stabilization

You should compare it to the new Huawei that has an 8x lens. or the Oppo Find X8 Ultra which somehow manages a decent 100x zoom with it’s 6x sensor.
I haven’t seen a phone that takes better 100x shots than the S23 Ultra. (External lenses / accessories don’t count)
