Everything you mentioned has a solution

Because except Motorola and Pixels, every other brand does this.

recently snapped some 50mp anniversary pics at a restaurant and the Samsung images were not all that. Pre-ordered the iPhone to try and see which goes bye bye.

None of my Qi2 MagSafe power banks work correctly on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. The cameras get in the way.

For a skinny phone with a shorter battery life, that is a must.

Samsung bloatware duplicates many Android apps. Tries very hard to obscure whether the developer brand is Samsung, outsourced, or otherwise. Many hidden or undisclosed apps. Texting is a mess. Junk calls are a mess. Notifications are a mess.

Wait for iPhone Air to arrive to compare.

Phone manufacturers lie a little about resolutions.

Back in the day of 16:9 screen, 1080p was 1920x1080p, because officially 1080p is 1920x1080p.

Many phones now claim 1080p but are actually not, the width is 1080p but because many phones don't use 16:9 anymore, often the height is more than 1920.

DarlingYext, 13 Sep 2025How about split screen and multi tasking? Don't tell m... moreYes

If the resolution is the same and you change the dpi setting on all devices to match each other then yes, it will be the same from a resolution standpoint.

1080p is 1080p, if the dpi/scaling matches then it will show the exact same content.

Apple and Android manufacturers adjust the dpi (scaling in windows and linux) to adjust what you see, they make it larger the smaller the display is.

That is why you can have two devices, one with a 6.1" display at 1080p, and another one being 6.7" at 1080p, and the bigger one will show more.

            It's all a software trick.

If you match them to their dpi/scaling, a 1080p 24" display will show the exact same amount of content as the 6.1" 1080p.

But nobody wants so small and u readable text on a phone, so dpi/scaling exists to solve that.

No idea about iphones but on Android you can even change the dpi in the developer settings.

DarlingYext, 13 Sep 2025Why would I want that? Even 1080p is more than enough resol... moreIs english your mother language?

What the other comment meant is that you see more on a bigger screen with same resolution, because of the different dpi.

              (Speaking from experience)

A 6.5" display that is 1080p on a Android device will show more content than a 6" device because both phones use different dpi settings, while having the same resolution.

Manufacturers assume someone with a smaller display wants better readability, so they adjust the dpi the way a smaller display phone will show less than the one with bigger display, even while the resolution is the exact same.

Some people like me have good eyesight and want that extra space, so in developer settings on Android you can adjust the dpi to show same amount of content as the larger device.

In essence, bigger phone shows more because of the software being set (dpi setting) to show more.

Not because it is bigger (unless the resolution is higher but I am talking here about same repslution display, 1080p vs 1080p).

It's like scaling on Windows, I have a 27" 4k display and it defaults to 200% scaling, that would mean the content I see would be same as on a 1080p display, but changing it to 100% gives me all the benefits of 4k.

On android if both phones use same resolution but have different screen sizes, companies change the dpi so that the phone with larger display shows more, but just like scaling in windows that is purely a software thing.

But that is due to dpi scaling, turn it off or use same value on both devices and they will show the same amount of content.

I do have phones with smaller displays and there is clearly less content that can fit on them. I never thought this would ever be a question, it's obvious that the larger a display is the more content it can display.

DarlingYext, 13 Sep 2025"You don't see more content on larger screens if ... moreWhat's absolutely insane is how little you know of how screens work. It's completely baffling I misjudged you as knowing at least the basics of how a phone (or any screen works). My mistake, I won't respond to your stupid ramblings anymore.
I can't be bothered to educate you, so here's chatGPT doing the work for me:

                          Phone A: 6-inch screen, 1920×1080 resolution

                          Phone B: 6.8-inch screen, also 1920×1080 resolution

Both have the same number of pixels, so both can show the same amount of content. On the larger phone, that content just looks bigger (text and images are scaled up).

If you want to see more at once (more lines of text, more of a webpage without scrolling), you need:

A higher resolution on the same screen size (e.g., 2560×1440 instead of 1920×1080).

Or the option to change display scaling / zoom in settings, so that more pixels are used for content instead of enlarging everything.

🔑 So: a larger screen with the same resolution won’t show more content — just bigger content.

A real shame because an iPhone Air with all of these things would be a really nice phone

20% smaller battery, one less camera, no sim card tray, 1 speaker instead of 2
all of that just to end up at almost the same size and weight

Casio, 13 Sep 2025The consumers want a small phone with good battery life, no... moreI want a compact lightweight phone. Ironically, the standard S25 is the best out there right now in that regard when not counting some exotic Unihertz. Or better yet, the iPhone 13 mini is smaller and lighter still.

Mono speaker????????? Hello? Wtf are you thinking apple?

I bet we will see a trend of the camera island/plateau being utilized to house the phone's electronics with the other OEMs, copying Apple's Air design, to achieve slimmer body.

Anything to shave off the weight and bulk of most today's phones is good in my book. Enough with 200g+ phones. Better technology should be giving lighter portable devices, not heavier ones.

I can't wait for the S26 Edge. I'm still partial to a compact phone, but if the regular S model is going extinct and I'm forced to get a phablet, at least I want it to be light.
