Those are cylindrical silicon carbon batteries. In general cylindrical batteries offer better density and longevity over pouch batteries and it took Samsung 10 years to develop their silicon carbon material before it was ready to start replacing the current technology. Also, vehicle batteries have to offer more charging cycles because people usually keep their cars longer than 1-2 years.
We don't know if their silicon carbon pouch batteries can match the density, longevity and reliability of their li-on batteries. That's what they are testing now.

Prices are soaring up though and the features provided in Samsung and its OneUI OS is wayyyy ahead of iOS like its really good (on god iOS animations are the Pinnacle) but still when it comes to functionality Samsung has done a really good job 👏

An a... moreI mean, the price didn't increased for the Pro and Pro Max models. And if you look at the competition, the prices are similar.
Plus, some models from competitors are actually even worse (see Pixel 10 line-up). And even Samsung is not that far behind. Even though, in the case of Samsung their prices come down quite fast, after 6 months. Also, Samsung phones have a ton of bloatware apps (if not the most bloatware apps from all manufacturers). Even after the uninstall process. For me this is a big minus.
The only phones that are less expensive are the Chinese phones. But even these have increased prices in recent years. I mean, phones like Realme GT 7 Pro or OnePlus 13 cost in Europe around 800EUR. And are 1 year old phones. A Galaxy S25 Ultra is around 950EUR now. And an iPhone 16 Pro Max around 1100EUR. I mean, the Chinese phones are cheaper, but not by half. And in majority of times they have worse software performance down the line. Also very poor resale value.

But, did you look at any other brand? They are not that different prices. And is normal, how much do you want to pay for a replacement battery (including the labor cost)? 10EUR? The people working in the phone services shops do not work for free.
Besides, is 2025, if you can't afford 50-100EUR once per 3 years, then I don't know what to say.
Also, the replacement of battery doesn't need to be done by Apple necessarily. There are many private phone services that work with original parts (especially if you have a phone from Samsung, Apple or Xiaomi).

And why is this even news? I never changed batteries in the phones I bought them as new. Because I never keep them for that long, until the battery will degrade. The only time I changed batteries is when I bought the phones second hand (usually Samsung phones or iPhones).
Any phone out there (Android or iPhone) will have 80%+ battery health after 2-3 years. Unless the owner of the phone is absolutely set on destroying the battery health sooner.
What I am trying to say is, by the time you will need to change the battery in an iPhone 17 Pro Max for example, you have a big chance to pay a different price.

Oh, so they still mock their customers with prices that surpass any commun sense. An iphone screen is tops, and i am being nice here, tops 70 euros to produce, most probably is way less, like 40 or lesser. The glass back is about 2 to 5 euros, and they sell them with prices where you can buy a nothing phone 3a? Just schameless greed and mockery.

And yet we have prices for battery replacement before phone is out for sales... Thats how good batteries are in the iphones that its already degraded and not even out yet... Low quality batteries for the prices of the best on the market that can actually holds up for 5-6 years without problem.
