If it did, it would be a bad thing for everyone. Why do you think this year's iPhone saw so many improvements? It's not because Apple was feeling generous; it's because competition and market pressures forced their hand. Apple, the iPhone, and iOS all need that competition to keep improving. Without it, stagnation would quickly set in. Plus, if Android disappeared, Apple would have a monopoly on the smartphone market, and I don't think even Apple wants the trouble that would bring.
You know, I've never understood the "die-hard fanboy" mindset. As an all-in iOS user until earlier this year, I've now switched to Android, it doesn't mean I suddenly hate Apple. I'm a consumer first and foremost. I don't want either side to disappear; in fact, I much prefer that they continue to compete. That market pressure gives me better choices and better products all around.

Samsung also had a lot to do with Huawei's ban, because they were already feeling the weight of competition, leaving them alone and monopolizing the market and selling you the same phone every year at a higher price. It will do well alongside LG.

pre-orders in China are similar. More orders within 1 minute for the iphone 17 than there were for the whole first day for the iPhone 16. Many Weibo phone reviewers are also complaining about the long wait times for the 17 pro max. The total series bookings on jindong were 3 times the volume of bookings for the 16 series

Even the pre-orders in China are selling out. No surprise. The bold orange color really draw many people's attention. Hopefully this will push Apple into doing more bold colors in the future.
