What a pity, Xiaomi 17 Pro Max and, probably later, Air?
Damn copycats, these Chinese brands and companies!

    Does the average person really care whether it's named similarly to the iPhone though?

    The only possible reason for this change would be more profit, but I'm having a hard time picturing people who'd gain interest in Xiaomi just because of a mere number in its name.

    Otherwise, it's a pointless cat and mouse game.

If anything if they keep the pricing reasonable it could end up as one of their most popular series ever solely because of the changes to the back. Because most people who want the latest iPhone want it to flext because of the newest design changes and the iPhone 17 is such. I see this as a great upgrade especially for the 13 and 14 owners as the 15 and 16 didn't bring much changes at all.

              Rest are possibly go either way.
              It depends on the way iPhone 11 and 12 had been purchased, because they are possibly at the top of the repurchasing cycle. So if iPhone 11, 12 and possibly 13 too has shown jump in numbers on those years, then there is likely possibility of increase sale of 17 too.

                                  I see a lot of people mad at Xiaomi for "copying" blatantly at Apple, but they're not just doing it for fun. This way Xiaomi can generate more interest towards people that were, before, don't even know the brand exists. Just by typing into the search engine 2 brands pop up. And this could be enough to sway a number of would-be Apple buyer to Xiaomi just by disrupting the search results.

                                  Plus by naming it as close to their competitor as possible, reviewers will FLOCK to compare the 2 together. This could also benefit Xiaomi in a way that them saying that they are confident that their phone is on par or better than Iphones. And this is free advertisement, and will be a bigger exposure for them, basically for FREE.

                                  So yeah, its not just gimmick.

                                    Xiaomi you know you are better.
                                    Everybody knows you are a lot better.
                                    So please tell why to copy a garbage company which have nothing only things which been on android decades ago.
                                    A company where EU laws must add to new cool things and possibilities for apple othervise all users will be mocked and locked in some deep cold jail without any light whatsoewer.
                                    In other words Xiaomi you are disgusting now.

                                      What sick inferiority complex from Xiaomi ..... Imagine changing the name and number of an entire phone lineup just to CATCHUP with apple ..... Sadly, many Xiaomi buyer's don't like apple to begin with, and for Xiaomi flagships which are better than iPhones in a number of ways, this catch-up mentality is really pathetic.

                                        17 Pro Max 😭 they can't even hide it anymore.

                                        Might as well just say it's powered by HyperOS 26 with Fluid Crystal UI
