Hope they don't downgrade the actual 2K spectacular screen to pathetic copy of iPhone as well with their low res super retina or whatever marketing bs. Should keep the ToF sensor and introduce variable aperture again

The only real benefit I can think of is that you get a camera preview on the back, and even then it's still that tiny little screen that you wont really be able to make anything out on. Plus there's the added disadvantage of increasing back glass/camera lens replacement cost by 3 or 4 times...
Its a nifty little feature, but I cant see a scenario where the costs don't outweigh the benefits here

Long rectangular camera island with a display. Granted also some without a display, such as the iQOO 9 Pro, but still the very big rectangular camera island like the 11 Ultra.

But yeah its pointless. Xiaomi already had bad battery life and they are making it worse.

For me the rear screen seems pretty pointless. It's something that was tried by Meizu many years ago and then by Xiaomi themeselves but never caught on. It will probably have a negative effect on battery life too. Are people really going to hold the phone facing the rear screen when they can just face the front screen and use the always on display. I'll reserve final judgements though until I try it out at the end of September to see of they have come up with any good uses of the rear screen. I still think though that the standatd Xiaomi 17 is the most interesting phone of those being launhed this month. The cameras on the pro are not pro level when you compare them to other brands like OPPO and Vivo and the Xiaomi 17 cameras shoukd be not much worse. Also i think a 5x zoom with a not very good sensor is a bad choice. Personally would prefer a better quality 3x zoom
