I'd be surprised it is a walkie-talkie feature. Wouldn't be entirely out of place, but still surprising gimmick, even from Nothing.
As it's been pointed, I think this is mostly a better mic. For everything you usually do with earphones mic (calls, dictation, AI, etc) + a little more.
I think one use-case Nothing may have in mind is for social media "influencers" - the little microphone young youtubers hold as a way to get more street-cred.

Anonymous, 17 Sep 2025You do realise these are....wireless earbuds, right?i know. i was trying to point out how ridiculous an ai earbuds case would be to the person i was replying to

Sounds like a way to make American children use it by giving a FOMO situation like the imessage blue bubbles problem.

You speak into it to get better mic audio on calls, take voice notes, speak to ai assistant etc

It should have a clip on it’s back like the iPod Nano

This will allow you to wear it & use it’s superior mic for phone calls, just in case the built-in mic on the earbuds doesn’t work well.

I believe a volume dial & media controls should be standard on every case.

Strange. "Now they can hear you" kind of alludes to "they previously couldn't hear you", which is an interesting... yet self-reporting marketing idea?

I'm curious to see where this is going, but I can't really see this feature catching on, if I'm honest. This year Nothing seems to be throwing ideas at the wall to just see what sticks, instead of giving fans what they want.

Honestly really really good feature, cuz it would double as a mic so you don't have to buy a dedicated one, especially for content creators or people who use mics for VCing a lot.

This interests me! I'm from the era when walkie-talkies with antennas and radio frequencies were used, haha. Those were the days.
