Anonymous, 17 Sep 2025When you swim, the water pressure will change as the water ... moreYou avoid the water with even water proof watches because those are ratings before the watch gets damaged, once it's damaged there is no rating and water can get in.

"Most smartwatches are 5ATM rated which is good for dives at up to 50 meters depth."

Actually at 50 metres it is 6 ATM (6 Bars) of pressure. 1 ATM is at the surface. At 10 m deep it is 2 ATM, etc.
Also one cannot dive to 50 or 40 metres with this watch as only static pressure is certified. Huawei says: "*Complies with 5 ATM-rated water resistance under the ISO 22810:2010 standard, which indicates that the device can withstand up to 50 metres of static water pressure for 10 minutes, but does not mean that the product is water-resistant in water that is 50-metre deep."

Wikipedia on 5 ATM water resistance:
"Suitable for everyday use, showering, bathing, shallow-water swimming, snorkeling, water related work, fishing. Splash/rain resistant." "Not suitable for diving. "

I have a watch ultimate. Last week while swimming in the pool, it decided to die. 2 years.
Never reached more than 2 meters depth.
          At least they repaired it.

Huawei should learn to make high-quality smartphones first and then move on to smartwatches, so as not to look ridiculous.

Anonymous, 17 Sep 2025Most people will not go below 3 meters and that's all ... moreWhen you swim, the water pressure will change as the water moves when you move your body under water. It's not recommended to swim with a watch with a water resistance of 50 meters or lower. By the way, water from a water faucet can have water pressure equivalent to static water at about the depth of 30 meters. This is why if you want to wash your hands while wearing a watch, your watch should have water resistance of at least 30 meters. Generally, 50 meters of water resistance is recommended if you want to wash your hands while wearing your watch.

No, 50 meters of water resistance isn't suitable for diving or even swimming. It refers to the water pressure at that depth in static water. When water moves or when you move your body under water, the water pressure can significantly increase. A watch with 50 meters of water resistance is suitable for watching your hand while wearing it.

100m diveproof in a smartwatch is crazy
