AnonD-80334, 10 Oct 2013Well, about battery, it's linux kernel that is less power e... moreSo much wrong with your post. You do realize that Android's kernel is a fork of the mainline Linux kernel, specifically because of power management, right? With no merger on the immediate horizon? The mainline kernel is built for high-end workstations, mid-range desktops, and starting to get better on notebooks. The problem has been, and always will be, that drivers for laptops must be reverse-engineered because of a lack of manufacturer support for Linux. This is not the case with smartphones, where the kernel and userland is catered by the manufacturer directly to the chipset and features of the device.

Going all out. That's what Microsoft's doing now. They are taking things into their own hands and pushing their OS to the users. Not relying on Dell and co is the best thing they did. Am so so happy and looking forward to buying that Laptop.

With Microkia's new pricing policy, these devices are going to be out of reach in loyal third world countries where the Nokia brand means unbreakable.

Striker, 10 Oct 2013And by adventures you mean freezing, constant battery drain... moreWell, about battery, it's linux kernel that is less power efficient than Microsoft's NT kernel. I have a dual boot laptop with ubuntu 12.10 and windows 8.1 Preview. Even Preview of 8.1 is significantly more power efficient than Ubuntu 12.10 or 12.04 or any version that i have tried. So android being less power efficient is in its kernel on which google is supposedly working. Nokia's fall is because of their choice of staying away from Android. They could have sold more droids compared to Sammy, HTC, Sony combined. Look at HTC, Sammy they both have WP8, it's not exclusive to Nokia, then why Nokia should be exclusive for WP? Entering into such contract itself was a step close to self destruction. Idiotic decisions by Elop not to consider android or if rumours are to believe, try it very late or Dumping Meego even after good response to N9. On hardware part nokia did their best and brought some wonderful devices, Cameras on smartphone became more important because of constant efforts and brilliant Cameras on many nokia devices. N82,N86,N8 Lumia 920(groundbreaking hardware OIS tech), PV808, Lumia 1020 etc. It's WP that killed them.

if nokia do release another laptop it needs to be way better then their last offering, the booklet 3g was very poor at a time when netbooks were still all very popular just before tablets hit the market, the last nokia laptop was 3g enabled but was only a netbook size yet it was some £150 more then the average netbook even thought it had basically the same specs as the competition...
