Moreover they can also add performance modes, like a lite or eco mode to restrict cpu and gpu if the user isn't running any heavy tasks, so that will help prolong the battery life

Plus it didn't lose it's charm after a month or two like pretty much every other android skin has for me

Antonelpapi, 17 Sep 2025The original Nothing is already out of support just 3 years... moreCorrect, but still, companies the size of Nothing are typically lucky to even receive one OS update. Especially for their first go at a device, 3 years is impressive, even if its not industry standard.
Thankfully, Nothing was sensible enough to allow the bootloader to be unlocked, so someone will most likely port NOS 4 to phone 1 once stable builds start rolling out

Just give me a compact phone and I will sell my S25 right now

I find their design too sterile, lifeless.

Hikari, 17 Sep 2025People claim that Nothing OS is the best OS (if they aren&#... morenope. the quick settings tiles has always been different than stock/AOSP since NOS 1. They dialed back on Ndot font usage since 2.0 or something, leaving a mixed usage of Nothing typewriter and Roboto fonts. I myself use Nokia/HMD that uses stock Android with minimal bits of Pixel features added (Magic Editor etc) and had to do some adjustment on QS tiles to make NOS closer to stock. Parent (around 70) which also been a user of stock android since 2018 doesn't need to learn everything again when migrated to NOS

NOS UI is pretty much a heavy android fork / custom ROM these days, but they still maintain the simplified identity of AOSP.

Snapdragon 695 hater, 17 Sep 2025Can't argue with you here. Nothing bad about stock and... moreMotorola has long drifted away from Stock Android. Their current UI is the closest to FunTouch OS, but uses Google apps and less colourful icons. The only current brands that use licensed Stock Android are HMD and Fairphone. Obscure Shenzhen brands like Doke (Blackview, Oukitel, Meizu outside China and Oscal), Hotwav, KVD (Doogee, Unihertz, Redbeat, Umidigi, Ulefone), InOne (Lava, Benco), Hafury (Cubot) use a notably unlicensed version of Stock Android.

Animations have been improved (OS 3.0 app launch animations run smoother than Pixel UI 16) it supports Pop up view whereas Android doesn't, has Essential Space, has some Nothing exclusives (Fortune Cookie widget is useful) and different UI elements

                                    So, no os on nothing?

"Stock" Android = Android with no features and lower value proposition. But some people are so poor they still have the mentality that apps running in the background is going to kill their scrolling performance
