S I R E, 18 Sep 2025I've used phones as small as 5.1 and 5.2 inches with 1... moreApple named their displays "retina" because human eye cant detect pixels at above ~330 ppi. And even if your sight is literally 10/10, 400 ppi is already overkill. A 1.5k res on a 6.8" screen makes it ~450ppi.
So again... with a 10/10 sight, anything beyond this is meaningless, unless maybe, idk..you keep your phone at a 10cm distance from your eyes, looking at the tinniest font size possible??

I kept myself to limit on minimum for those settings, so then my brain can still tolerate the lower ends.

AmitBhalerao, 18 Sep 2025Can you educate me on why do we need more resolution on a s... moreI've used phones as small as 5.1 and 5.2 inches with 1440p resolution (lumia 950, HTC One M9+, Galaxy S6) and so I can actually tell a difference when dealing with lower res on larger screens now.
Second, phones cost too much and screens are much cheaper to manufacture now to not have it. If I'm paying for something I want it to be at least as good or better than what I've used in the past.
And no, most phones with a high res display come with refresh rate and resolution limiter so if somebody feels like it they can turn it down and if a phone can't even handle 1440p, it is likely not worth having anyway.

S I R E, 18 Sep 2025Now that we're almost through with curved edge screens... moreCan you educate me on why do we need more resolution on a small screen? 1080p on my 6.7 inch phone feels just right. Wouldn't higher resolution drain battery faster and strain the processer?

Melvin Harris, 18 Sep 20258 Gen 5? Okay, I'm totally confused now8 elite gen 5 > 8 gen 5 > 8 elite
Actual successor to 8 elite should be the 8 elite gen 5 while the 8 gen 5 is a toned down version of the 8 elite gen 5

Melvin Harris, 18 Sep 20258 Gen 5? Okay, I'm totally confused nowit is confusing, but i guess we had 8s gen4 so now we get 8 gen 5.
They could've just named their top tier ,,snapdragon elite" to mark its something kinda separate... or sd9 idk

Now that we're almost through with curved edge screens/displays I hope 18:9/2:1 becomes the standard aspect ratio with 1200p on the mid rangers or smaller flagships (6.5 inch and below) and 1440-1500p on flagships (larger 6.5 and above) as default resolution.
