        The name doesn't make sense, but I guess they just wanted to name it something with the number 3(because it's 3 parts) and so chose "Tri-fold" as the name.

                kanaaka, 19 Sep 2025neat, but very niche product. $3000 can get me a decent Lap... morethe point of folds was to replace the regular phones, just how smartphones replaced regular cell phones. instead they used the opportunity to price gouge and we now are going to be struck with the same basic tech for several decades more instead of seeing it replaced with the next logical step (phones that turn book size if you need them to, eventually it will happen, but mid century instead of 2020s, oh well)

                    It could, but it shouldn't.

                      neat, but very niche product. $3000 can get me a decent Laptop, smartphone, tablet, smartwatch, earbuds, console and a TV for a complete entertainment.

                        Why do you keep calling these phones tri-fold if they are folding twice only? There is a fold and tri-fold as you call it, but there is no bi-fold?

                          No thanks. You can buy a phone and a tablet and a laptop and a smartwatch for the same price. Though my laptop alone was $3300. But for most people $3000 is enough for all that.

                            I still feel like the XT and XTs are still a better form factor that the Samsung tri fold. It looks odd but I guess having a glass display when it's closed it better for durability.
