It will likely be based on Android 17, and chances are it will debut with Samsung's folding smartphones next year.

Android os has reached to a saturation point. The updates are mostly fixes and optimizations since android 11. The smartphone tech industry needs a fully different innovation to bring something new

why Google Messages often feels less user-friendly compared to Samsung Messages, and why some people still prefer Samsung’s app even if Google Messages is technically more “modern” with RCS.

Why Google Messages Feels Less User-Friendly

        1. UI & design differences

Google Messages follows Google’s Material You design, which is clean but sometimes less customizable.

Samsung Messages integrates better with One UI — bigger text options, better spacing, more consistent with other Samsung apps.

        2. Customization

Samsung Messages lets you assign custom notification tones, vibration patterns, backgrounds, categories, etc. per conversation.

Google Messages is more “barebones” — fewer personalization options. You mostly get what Google decides is standard.

        3. Practical features

Samsung Messages has auto-delete old messages, quick replies, and metadata removal (like stripping location data from images before sending).

Google Messages doesn’t have all of these — though it does focus more on AI features (like smart replies, message summaries, spam detection).

        4. Ease of use

Many people find Samsung’s app more straightforward: open → write → send.

Google Messages adds more tabs (e.g. “Meet” integration in the past, now AI suggestions, Google Photos links, etc.), which can feel cluttered.

        5. RCS reliability

Google Messages has better universal RCS support — but that comes with complexity (turning on “Chat Features,” sometimes waiting for carrier support, etc.).

Samsung Messages users often prefer the simplicity — if RCS is available, it just works in the background, and if not, SMS still works.

Why Google Pushes Its App Anyway

Consistency across Android → Google wants all Android phones (Samsung, Pixel, Xiaomi, etc.) to use one standard app with RCS, so that features are the same everywhere.

iMessage competition → Google Messages is their answer to iMessage; it makes more sense for them to maintain one app instead of each brand having their own.

Encryption → Google is rolling out E2EE for RCS, something Samsung Messages doesn’t consistently have.

        Where Samsung Messages Still Shines

Even though Samsung is “sunsetting” it in some regions, Samsung Messages still:

        Feels lighter and cleaner.

Matches the Galaxy ecosystem (same style, One UI polish).

Gives more control over notifications and chat organization.

Has extra security (Message Guard sandboxing suspicious attachments).

Maybe they rename it also OneUI 26 soon
