OnePlus should be thanking the person who discovered the flaw and protecting customers as soon as possible. What it did was ignore the flaw until there was a risk to its reputation. Say what you like about Google, Samsung and Apple, but they are far more responsive.

This is exatly why the promise of security updates in itself doesn't matter at all. OnePlus could say they "promise" whatever many years of security updates and I would still trust companies with good track record like in Apple or Samsung more than these guys.
