Everyone who cares about smartphone photography even a little bit, knows that Samsung is way behind the chinese brands, including their Ultra line, let alone their base and S series models, which are behind even some midrange devices.

is that a direct quote? Cause honestly I can't remember or imagine any Samsung executive saying anything so silly. And also they are not the only one's to use 200mp sensors, so I imagine whatever reasoning they do actually apply does also appeal to at least some of the competition.

What Samsung does is intentionally misleading to the customer. It's like saying Samsung is better because they have 200 coins while X company only has 50 coins, while leaving out the fact that Samsung's coins are all pennies, while X company has all quarters.

Samsung has successfully fooled their buyers into thinking that having a 200MP camera and 100x zoom automatically makes their cameras better than anything available on the market, when the truth is the complete opposite.

Honestly, would replacing the cameras on the S26 Ultra actually make a difference?
Absolutely not. The pictures would look largely the same, and people on sites such as this would still find a reason to complain anyhow. Outside of the extreme, scientific pixel-peeping done by groups like DXOMARK, most people have a hard time distinguishing between photos taken on current or recent flagship devices. The only component I would say could do with a bit of a re-think is that 3× telephoto sensor.

Anonymous, 01 Oct 2025The iPhobe 17 is a midrange phone.Yet has better cameras than what the "flagship" S26 *Pro* is likely going to get, as that's rumored to stick with the same old midrange camera setup.

"Samsung has NOT introduced many significant upgrades to the camera hardware of its flagship Galaxy S series since the Galaxy S21 series, and it appears that the Galaxy S26 family will be NO different. According to a Korean news outlet, the company isn't planning any major changes to all three upcoming Galaxy S26 phones next year."
"Of course Samsung has finalized these camera specs, but not now, more like 3-4 years ago." (😱 X 😂)^ ♾️ +1

I am more into small flagships and i have an s23. i still think it is one of the the best in galaxy timeline. it has 2026 galaxy camera hw (hahah...), powerful and efficient qualcomm chipset, %90 of the latest AI stuff and UI still fast and up to date thanks to 2 more OS updates.some glitches or lags may happen after some major updates but, its good to see they really fix them on the way in a couple of months with monthly updates. there is no planned slow down, my one UI is faster and more smooth than 2023.
since I have been upgrading my phones every 4-5 years, I will look for major hw upgrades in 2027 or 2028. if the camera and battery can outperform my s23, my next phone could probably be a 2028 flip phone.
I would expect to see an s26pro with a more advanced set of cameras to outperform iphone17pro. it is sad to see the aging underdog galaxy phone over and over again.
the reason why samsung is rebranding the same s22 in the 4th year is chinese brands still competing so lazy in terms of supply chain, marketing and after sales support. all they focus is superior hardware and chinese local market, that's it for many years. they are being so shy and conservative leaves so much playground and profit margin for apple and samsung

According to some leaks S26 Pro will get a new main camera with bigger sensor (still 50MP) and new Ultra Wide camera, telephoto camera will remain the same. S26 Ultra will get camera upgrades as well.
