Early Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme benchmarks have it beating top Intel and AMD chips

01 October 2025
The new ARM chip has an advantage not just in CPU tests, but also GPU and NPU benchmarks.

Who would have thought, letting your cpu to run actual tasks like rendering images for 10 minutes straight can be a good performance test?

Anonymous, 02 Oct 2025lmao they didn't have the balls to compare with the AC... moreI have 275HX laptop and in Gekkbench 6 X2 extreme smokes it. 275HX scores 20k in multi core and 3k in single core. That's 20% and 33% faster than 275HX. Cinenench 2024 scores it's pretty much same multi core score it scores 2k and single core is 140. Mind you 275HX is 150W chip. So X2 Elite should be much more efficient. Rip x86, ARM is 100% the future.

X elite raw performance was never a problem. their problem is; native app compatibility. most 3rd party apps still support x86 and run emulated versions with much worse performance on X elite. it is getting better but, still not ready for mainstream level yet.

jinxthesloth, 02 Oct 2025There are quite a lot of Linux distros with varying levels ... moreThat is great to see, that Lenovo is trying. I know there are a lot of ARM Linux distros. I myself have Debian and Fedora on my M4 Mac mini on the VM.

I so wanted to wait to buy laptops with this chipset but they missed a golden opportunity for all the people that had to upgrade from Windows 10. This chip is a generational leap over the last one and if the GPU performance is there it then sorts out the issues of the last chip.

Anonymous, 02 Oct 2025rip intelintel already RIP not because of Snapdragon
But because of their 13th gen & 14th gen problem
If I'm not wrong, in server, AMD now account for 70% of market share
and in Desktop, AMD CPU sales also increase and now maybe around 30%???

OfficialTRider, 02 Oct 2025By the time this chip will be available Intel will be halfw... moreOh Man.. Intel and NVidia Officials have themselves said.. Integrated Nvidia GPU are not coming at least before 2029...

They were talking about Hammer Lake or Titan Lake at best (i.e. fasted possible arrival)
Otherwise, it will be delayed like everything happens with Intel... Just like their 18A products..

Even manufacturers are not impressed by their 18A chiplets Intel gave them for testing and said situation seems to be like that of Intel's previous Meteor Lake

OfficialTRider, 02 Oct 2025By the time this chip will be available Intel will be halfw... moreI didn't see anywhere that Intel is working on a new node (succesor of 18A) when they don't even have major customers for 18A. Also, recently when Nvidia invested money into Intel, Jensen Huang and Lip Bu Tan got asked about that by a reporter/journalist regarding Nvidia using Intel's fabs. Jensen Huang just said TSMC is the best, we have a very good relationship with them, we will continue to use them. And Lip Bu Tan just mindlessly nodded along to whatever Jensen Huang said.

Anonymous, 02 Oct 2025rip intelBy the time this chip will be available Intel will be halfway into developing 14A, with integrated Nvidia GPUs for laptops. Integrated Dedicated GPUs means better memory bandwidth while gaming and lesser power consumption. Basically this will be ok for the first 3 months, then It'll sell at half the price of Intel and AMD.

But yes, you can't use Qualcomm X series chips with Linux just yet, beside Lenovo with their T-series laptop who are "trying" to making it work, I don't see any other Laptop manufacturers doing it. Maybe it will be better if Framework joins the fray. I wish they speed it up and have more people working on it. But it will be a very slow process, I guess.

Anonymous, 02 Oct 2025What about Linux on ARM? Linux on ARM runs more software than Windows, but it is still not possible to install it there if I am not mistaken.

Anonymous, 02 Oct 2025And the software compatibility? It’s Windows, so terrible.
