Does this relate in any way to Google deciding that Android developers everywhere in the world are going to be required to register centrally with Google, as detailed on the F-Droid website? It means that using an opensource app store like F-Droid will no longer be possible. I learned about it on DistroWatch, and I'm surprised that none of the Android sites have written about it.

Awful news, Google is android they should be able to do what they want and if people don't like it go to apple then, all this is going to lead too is more malware and viruses with people installing 3rd party apps and it's going to hit the shareholders at Google as their revenue will be down with not getting developer tax, a sad day for the smartphone industry

FatShady, 07 Oct 2025hopefully enough countries will force them to stop forcing ... moreThis and smartphone manufactures' default apps too. They tie their own apps to system functions and make them hard to install. Samsung and Xiaomi does this. I don't know about others.

hopefully enough countries will force them to stop forcing their crap apps on every phone manufacturer, and ship the phones with just playstore and the customer will download whatever they want.
