Interestingly they are not advertising any kind of UPI here which is essential at this point in India and considering even some of their feature phones have it in some capacity I don't know why. Although a lot will see Whatsapp as a hurdle I'm not one of them but their solution-a completely new app will not work as you can't get people to use anything else. Seems like they are finally getting the prices right at least. But then again that display, smh.

if this phone comes with 5g, 5.5" or above display and 6000mAh battery, and instead of cloud apps, they simply gave whatsapp desktop mode support for phone size screen and upi, i would've buy it to detoxify from android/ios ecosystem

I wish HMD would revive Symbian OS, the very best that ever existed.
We used to have lossless zoom with a high quality prime lens(!), we used to transmit radio to our car's music player without any wires, we used to do lossless zoom in videos, something phones still struggle with, we used to store a lot of content on microSD cards, used to listen to near perfect audio on 3.5mm headphones, we used to use ND filter to reduce overexposure, variable apertures, the insane customisation we used to do.
We used to do so much in 2012, that a lot of phones still can't do in 2025. And it felt free.
Still, Touch 4G is a good start for now!

It would've been perfect if there was UPI support. Without UPI a phone is pretty much useless in India.

Jeanclaudekick, 07 Oct 2025Even 45 dollars is to expensive for this crap. Yeah, for $45, you expect it to be a smartphone and to have specs of the iPhone 17 Pro or Galaxy S25 Ultra while still being that small and be priced under $50.
You people ask for the impossible when it's catered to an audience that's not targeting you. When news of the Pixels and Galaxy S series were getting 7 year software updates, you still had people on here whining about it. Then we have crApple fans thinking they're superior when iOS will always be San Quentin to me. All phones suck. iOS vs. Android, blah blah blah. Touch grass. Stop typing or reading worthless comments and live your life before the internet.

Running cloud apps on 64MB of RAM... No way. I bet the price wouldn't have gone up that much if they just put in 1GB of RAM.

Just buy a Servo King 9000 on AliExpress for around $40 over this.
Recently got a FREE Samsung Galaxy S10e from AirTalk since I have EBT. I think it's better than my Pixel 3 but I wouldn't rank it higher since Samsungs tends to break on me. A week ago, I got a like new condition iPhone SE (2016) for $40. It's my 4th time purchasing a space gray SE1 and it's still on 11.4.1. Battery doesn't drain badly like it does on iOS15.
I feel I own enough phones for digital detox. Just use an older smartphone. My SE1 can't run YouTube since it needs iOS16 minimum. I can only view it from Safari. But honestly, that isn't a bad thing. Some limitations are good to stay away from reading moronic comments on social media.

My Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 (2021) and LG G5 (2016) went on a bootloop earlier this year. At least the LG G5 was almost 8 years old before it did that. ZF3 bootlooped at 3 years and 4.5 months. Props to my Xiaomi Mi 3 for lasting over 11 years.
May add BlackBerry Bold 9900 (2011) to my collection but don't want to spend more than how much I spent my recent SE1 for it. I owned it before. BB9900 is a dream to hold. Feels better than the iPhone 4 and 5 series. Just get an iPhone SE (2016) if you want the best compact smartphone ever made. You can turn it into a feature phone by not adding apps.
