We don't have exact bandwidth numbers for G5, but this is the most likely cause when you also consider the much lower performance of G5

This article is not about storage capacity, it's about internal storage SPEED (the physical component/chip) inside of the phone. Why some people here keep talking about SD Cards?! Don't they know the difference?

Anyway, I hope this should be the reason of phasing the emmc out on entry level phones.

Pinpin, 08 Oct 2025We finally get UFS 5.0 soon 🙌 Hopefully eMMC 5.1 will be ... moreeMMC is rarely used unless it is for burner-tier phones, otherwise UFS 2.x is still put on cheap phones, even seen on devices around 200s USD price tag...

And it won't get in Pixel for at least 3 years and even then only in the States on select versions.

Having a microSD card slot for offline use is definitely useful and never goes outdated. Plus, for the same price as upgrading its rivals' internal storage from 256GB to 512GB, I can easily get a 1TB SanDisk Extreme/Extreme Pro microSD card.

Consider the cost of upgrading the internal storage from 256GB to 512GB or from 512GB to 1TB in today's premium flagship phones. At this point, I would rather see the implementation of the UHS-III microSD card slot. Sony could be onto a real winner if they are serious about it, since they still keep the microSD card slot on the Xperia 1 series.
