Only when 16-1 analog binning is used. Tetra²pixel sensors have three modes: 16-1 analog binning, 4-1 analog binning or no binning. And by the way, smartphones don't have sensor shift high resolution capabilities, there is not a single smartphone with such a feature.

Very sad that they stay with the same 200mp small sensor. Afaik, the difference between ISOCEEL HP original to ISCOCELL HP4 is so small that samsung flagships mostly stay at rank 30-60s in dxomark and take the last position in most camera comparison. Whatever the jumbo mumbo marketing wording they used I see the physics of large pixel and large sensor always win compared to unused pixel number and small sensor.

If the tech supposedly works that great on small pixels it will work even better on larger pixels. Let's go larger pixels and sensors

I feel like we've regressed in camera since the 2010s, the only good trend was large pixels which went out to make way for these tiny yet numerous pixels and algorithms trying to make use of these sensors and getting worse and far removed from desired image quality

Is it as visually impressive as Vivo? No. But I find Vivo's processing to be a bit more "edited" than my liking. (Their photos look eerily perfect)

It features a Tetra²pixel RGB Bayer Pattern, with the same 16 color clusters... Basically a 12,5 MP equivalent to a Bayer sensor in one shoot or a little bit more with sensor shift and computational imaging.

I'm looking forward to Sony's new 200 MP sensor with Quad Bayer pixel array and 4 color clusters only, equivalent to a 50 MP Bayer sensor in one shoot or 200MP with sensor shift and computational imaging.

jerem06, 07 Oct 2025Reassure me, did the marketing department forget something?... moreBecause zoom capability isn't just about megapixel count, these 200MP sensors we've seen so far (such as HP9 on Vivo and Xiaomi's ultra phones) all use 2x2 OCL which by design sacrifices zoom capability for better focusing speed, making them closer to a 50MP that doesn't use Quad Bayer.

Still, this is way better than a 50MP sensor with 2x2 OCL, which would be even worse for zooming.
