Here's what bothers me about the headline grammatically: "is all but set for October" means it is NOT quite set for October 22, but nearly. Well is it, or is it not? If Apple have sent invitations for October 22, then YES IT IS.
So just say "Apple's iPad event is all set for October 22, now official".

The ipad (ipad2) is out of warranty and to have it repaired will cost about as much as an ipad3(the wi-fi doesn't work and I took it in to see what they could do, that's how I know). Would need to be sent to Singapore or Japan just for a refurb swap and takes a minimum of 2 weeks (up to 4 weeks).
No thanks.

The ipad apps crash more frequently than the Android and it's much worse since ios 7. The ipad is closer to a giant phone interface than the Toshiba.

Between this gem and ... moreLOL - You clowns just cant face the facts. And the fact is that the bezel is curling. There is a separation between the aluminum and the plastic bezel. Enough that I can get my fingernail in between in 3 locations. I believe it's due to the constant hot, humid climate and the rough handling. Still, the Toshiba gets more use and is in the same location and shows no dents or separation like the ipad.
FYI - It was purchased from the largest Apple authorized dealer in the country.
Stick that in your FUD sandwich. Sorry it's so hard for you Apple fans to swallow.

Go for WP8 if you want touch screen on a system built for mouse and keyboard.
Go for iPad if you want quality, usability, good battery life and optimised apps.
The facts you give are ridiculous, any problem you can always go to apple store, those dudes will solve your problems or replace it. GOOD LUCK if you have android tablet or WP8.. enjoy your endless hacking and annoyance from half-baked features.

seriously, why would a big slab like the ipad(and also others like tablets) need a backside camera? people really look ridiculous when they take pictures with those. i think ipads only need the camera for face time.
