We've reached peak smartphone years ago, we've even left the " harmless gimmick" territory behind us and now we're in the "dumb idea that nobody asked for which actively reduces usability while increasing costs" zone. Budget and midrangers will continue to reign supreme, simply because expensive idiocy will have hard time trickling down to those price points.

Yes it's an older standard, but older doesn't mean bad. You would barely notice a difference in daily usability between a phone with UFS 2.2 and one with UFS 4.1 if the storage chip was the only difference between the two
