When you fold a phone, it has two folded parts. iFold is inconsistent with iPhone and iPad. Other companies don't use the same naming convention as Apple, so Fold part in the name is a qualifier. For example, Galaxy Z Fold7 will be Galaxy Z Fold7 Phone if Samsung uses the same naming convention as Apple.

I dont really understand where it comes to the hinge point.

They have not made a category for fold or flip and it's really weird to think of it with just hinge.

What is even this argument to have phone in the name ? Like how you even come up with this example ?

I'd say likely a rounded titanium frame akin to the Air with aluminum as the internal structure, higher grade titanium with the most fragile parts of the hinge.

Anonymous, 09 Oct 2025Aspect ratio. The galaxy and pixel folds are 6.5" main screens and 8" inside screen. This is significantly smaller.

Anonymous, 09 Oct 2025Aspect ratio.Regardless of how you spin it, 5.5" is still iPhone mini size, unless they do the ugly obnoxious bezels like on the OG galaxy fold, which is unlikely. Apple also likes picking one aspect ratio and sticking with it. 4:3 (or something really similar) for iPads, and 19.5:9 for most every fullscreen iPhone. While they could change it, my bet is that the outside screen will maintain a 19.5:9 ratio as to not disrupt the experience they've maintained for almost 10 years now.
