That's why I stopped following large popular sellouts who only talk about the phone on embargo day and never looked back at it, and instead follow those who buy the phone with their own pocket money or use it as a daily driver. The latter seriously deserves more recognition, especially given how messed up YouTube algorithm nowadays.

YUKI93, 15 Oct 2025*laughs in Juan Carlos Bagnell aka SomeGadgetGuy* https:... moreThat rare occasion where a tech YouTuber use the phone as an intended daily driver. I don't know why people still watch and believe sellouts like MKBHD, Mrwhosetheboss, Austin Evans, etc. There are far better indie creators out there worth following.

Anonymous, 14 Oct 2025Multiple reasons really. 1. High-End phone camera system... moreI'm in a similar position to you. I've been thinking long about getting a Sony A7 or A7S, whether it's new or used. But given the ongoing advancement of smartphone photography, I feel that it'd be a waste for me to buy the A7 or A7S and not utilise it frequently. It has been years since I left the DSLR/Mirrorless bandwagon, and I still don't have the inner spark of coming back to it.

While it's great to see more first-party smartphone Photography Kits, I'm not convinced about the T-mount bayonet. As far as I'm aware, only Moment uses it on their mobile lenses. The rest relies on a more universal 17mm thread.

Anonymous, 14 Oct 2025Multiple reasons really.
1. High-End phone camera system... moreYou seriously think a phone's sensor and flat glass "lens" rivals an aps-c sensor and lens? LOL nice cope. Even a $100 m43 E-PL1 can still resolve images better than any phone camera on the market. Which defeats your whole argument, you're paying more for a camera phone assuming because you like photography or (think) you're getting a good camera, but the reality is you'll save a LOT more money buying an older dslr that will not only be better in every way, it's also durable. But you don't spend all that cash for performance, you spend all that cash to brag to the other people falling for the cope.
It's all science, mobile photography is physically incapable of ever comparing itself to dedicated sensors and lenses

Anonymous, 14 Oct 2025Why not just buy a real camera?Multiple reasons really.
1. High-End phone camera systems are pretty damn good these days. Any iPhone, Samsung Galaxy S, OnePlus, Oppo, Xiaomi, Vivo and Google Pixel withing the last 2-3 years will get you 70-80% of the quality of an APS-C or Fullframe system with a kit lens, granted that is if you know what you are doing.
2. Price.
Why buy a good APS-C or Fullframe cam for anything from 300-5000$/€/£ (from used to new) with at least a kit lens or significantly more expensive high-end lenses for specific purposes if a phone can do more, gets you most of the cam quality and likely costs less than a cam?
Most normal consumers either can't afford that kind of expense or can't justify it if they already have a high-end phone and a digital camera with a fixed zoom range isn't worth it these days specifically because of phones.
3. Time constraints
You have to have a lot of time or a job in which you can travel a decent bit or make photography and videography your job.
Just for a yearly vacation as most people may have time for an expensive camera system isn't worth it, your smartphone will do.
As much as i want, in my case specifically, a Sony A6700 with the Sony 18-135 F3.5-5.6 OSS lens i can't justify that expense.
Not because i can't afford it but because i basically have zero time for photography, so for the little photography i do while on the go, my OnePlus 12 is perfectly adequate.

Anonymous, 14 Oct 2025who cares if the phone is rubbish with poor support.Besides poor support, how good is the camera experience really with this kit over using the phone's camera alone, is it enough to justify with putting up with other shortcomings of the phone and their flavor of Android?
Also if someone is this serious about photography, wouldn't a decent mirrorless camera with lenses be heads and shoulders above anything you can get from a smartphone even with a photography kit?
I just don't get the appeal of these and who it's for.

For those who think this is new. It's not and it's also made for iPhones, Xiaomi 14 and 15 Ultras, and for the previous Nubia Z70/S70 models. It's made by Fotogear company. You can check them out. It looks retro Leica because it's exactly that. A sort of nice replica of classic cameras. What's sad is that despite the fact that for iPhone and Nubia they also have that additional button top part, for Xiaomi they didn't made it. Extremely disappointed even though they do have two cases fort Xiaomi 15 Ultra.

They call 60mm AddOn lens a "portrait" lens - cough. Portrait starts usually with 75, 85, 105 & 135mm. Clearly shows, phone companies have no photography heritage.

I would more like to see a 1" main sensor with quality 2x (like Vivo x100 pro) instead of trashy telecamera. 35mm*2x = 70 mm, it is "tele" enough, no 3rd camera needed at all.
I would more like to see a 1" main sensor with highquality easy attachable teleconverter compatible with protection cases than huge bulky vintage camera-like case.
