            I'm my opinion it's the worst looking flagship from OPPO for years. iPhone or Pixel 10 like front, Find X3 (not X3 Pro which looked fantastic) kind of camera island and overall look is a way worse than Find X8 Pro. Very disappointed with it. It will be hard to pay over NZ$2000 for it regardless of other really good things this phone has.

This also means that there's far more crosstalk between these pixels, which naturally lowers the effective resolution of the full-resolution output significantly.

              When I first saw the product page of HP5 I immediately had a concern that this would result in severe degradation in captured details, but it seems that my worst speculation has turned out to be true.

                    We'll see if master mode is any better but I highly doubt it, because it'll still handle motion worse (due to lack of ZSL) and will have clipped highlights because it doesn't merge multiple frames.

The Vivo X100 Ultra for example was the result of over-sharpening but it kept the real texture (usually, especially at native focal lengths) but on the new OPPOs it's straight up a different thing. I have many pictures where oppo draws completely fake foliage everywhere when compared to other phones or its own master/gcam.

                        EDIT: Actually what you quoted confirms what I said - 3x optical and 6x with ISZ which is 2x ISZ.

I expect the longer range zoom to be singficantly worse on the OPPO find x9 pro compared to the Honor Magic 9 pro for the reason you mention about ISZ and also the fact that it has a lower optical zoom at 70mm compared to 85mm on the aforementioned 2 phones. I'd expect the 3x optical to perform excellently though in all conditions. The relatively large sensor and f2.1 should help it to be very good at the optical level of 70mm.

I can see a huge up in unor... moreMy point is that the "unorganic AI texture" that you're talking about is a result of sharpening (which seems to be a bit harsher on X9 Pro compared to the X8 Pro). Slight faults and artifacts produced during demosaicing get exaggerated more as you apply stronger sharpening on the image, as exemplified by the fact that Quad Bayer and X-Trans "worms" become far more noticeable if you take these RAW files to Lightroom and dial up the sharpness slider.

                                They aren't clipped on SDR displays either. There are traces of highlight compressions, but midtone details aren't overflattened nor are highlights completely blown out like what you would get from Xiaomi's cameras.

And I agree with you that photos are heavily tuned for PRO XDR compatible displays which is not really good because it should be a simple gain map and not clipped on SDR displays.

                                      HP5's max ISZ is 2x because it can not utilize the full 200MP while HP9/HPB can utilize 4x ISZ.
