It's the Exynos name, and it's a real thing. Only recently has exynos been developing so fast to keep up, and most clients or investors haven't had interest yet. That's what it seems Samsung is trying to do with Exynos 2600. Another thing is, TSMC knows highest public preference would be itself. So, because they don't consider Samsung a threat or a competitor, they are raising prices. Tsmc raised 2nm node prices, because of quote "Low Yield". Samsung always had low yield and the lowest recently for it's own 2nm node. But TSMC raised prices by 50%, while Samsung didn't. Because TSMC is basically controlling Cupertino, Qualcomm, Dimensity and the rest dependent clients alike. But Samsung kept prices low and sacrificed profits to attract customers. Why do you think AMD is able to provide so competitive products at cheap prices, way cheaper than intel or nvidia? Because Nvidia has established sort of a monopoly. Same thing TSMC is gonna do. And Samsung like AMD knows it.

No TSMC options for the S26 series?

      Well, isn't Samsung feeling confident.....

I wonder what they plan to do to get tsmc fans over to samsung fabbed phones at a premium price. I bet they'll go hard on upgrading the phones all around to make up for the fab issue. They so desperately want to cut ties with tsmc. Phah!

In the end, the consumers decide to invest or not....

Also in business it's 100% possible for people to sell both new and refurbished devices.

Am from Africa and here Exynos is Official, if you go to shop Exynos will be new as they are from manufacture, only Exception is Refurbished from Korea as we share same soc.

But refurbished from Usa, China, dubai etc they tend to be snapdragon, yes they are cheaper, because it's not brand new devices, it's refurbished devices and many of them have problems hence you get them for cheap.

Phones sold by retailers have similar pricing to snapdragon, ~+100 dollars for snapdragon because they know people will pay more, and official stores actually have phones that cost 600 dollars more than these retailers so people here just buy from retailers. In either case, the exynos is a bad deal. It's not samsung setting the price at the retail shop, it's the retailer.

Don't act like you know-it-all after you real some random biased article from a shady website saying samsung makes profit from exynos and thus uses them. Do you even have any idea how this works? Exynos always had the worst yields. Close to 50%. This means that half of chips from a wafer are useless. Basically LOSS for Samsung. While Qualcomm has a 70-90% yield rate for mature nodes. They would never want to sell a chip with 50% or lower yields at same price as a chip with much higher yield rates, even if bought from another supplier. The only reason they make and sell exynos is to keep their foundry alive while forming client interests. They know they are at loss with exynos, but they also want to pull TSMC's clients. In the end smartphone division of Samsung may be at net profit due to the phone itself, but LSI division is at loss. You should be kissing their feet that they are keeping exynos costs in control after all the advancements in 2nm and GAA architecture. Not like TSMC who forces Qualcomm and Mediatek to raise prices.

jiyen235, 21 Oct 2025no one's telling samsung to make 2 chips and no one... moreThere's a whole thriving foundry with factories operating. Workers, engineers, manufacturers would go jobless if samsung suddenly decided to stop manufacturing exynos. Exynos isn't just a name, it's the source for LSI division's operations. It's like TSMC, but inside Samsung. You can't expect them to just shut down because Samsung's handheld phones underperform with exynos. There are ton of other products, clients and services using Samsung's Foundry as their source. So yeah, it's not "PURE GREED". Without exynos, there would be no more profit for Samsung's Foundry, resulting in no more operation. And consequently full dependence of clients on TSMC as such. And then TSMC starts robbing your wallet.
