Whereas the mini, even being a compact phone (many don't prefer such a small phone) and even being a flagship sold a lot much, and in it's category, it did very well
The reason apple discontinued them was because small phones will always have much lesser buyers than regular phones, and companies are generally focussed on profits before anything else. Especially a company like apple
They prioritise maximum profits, which come from big phones and their sales numbers. There's actually a lot of demand for small phones, but there's not much money to be made there, in comparison to big phones

The Wii U sold over 13 million units, and it's considered one of the biggest failures in console history. The PS Vita sold about 15 million units, and it's also one of the biggest failures in console history.
By the way, the Galaxy A51 sold over 23 million units, the Redmi Note 9 Pro sold 15 million units, and the P30/P30 Pro sold 20 million units. By the entire lineup if you mean the entire lineups of manufacturers such as LG and Sony, you're right, but I don't think that Apple considered LG and Sony its competitors.

They made biggest stupid decission by cutting plus series from production. That was craziest decision. And moved to this crapy iphone air with single camera, disaster battery and "better pro cpu". These days people needs good battery life, mediate camera and i dont care if the cpu is pro or not since we cannot utilize them never. But for my opinion plus series were perfect. I still have iphone 14 plus it does great job very good battety life good camera and for chipset you cannot notice with those pro series i am not gamer or heavy user.

The mini series is called "flopped" but actually it sold over 10 million units, and that's a number that some companies can't sell even with their entire line-up
So it didn't really flop, apple just sold a lot more of their other models so they discontinued it after 2 years
The actual flopped phones would be the Plus and Air models

If by many, you mean 5 or more, can you give 5 examples of Android phones by different manufacturers that launched at about $600 in 2021/2022?
Anyway, the share of the iPhone 13 models except the iPhone 13 mini in 2022 was about 9.2%. If the sales of the iPhone 13 mini were about 3% of the total sales of all iPhone 13 models, its share would be about 0.28%.

Phone companies believe that people do everything with their phones, from gaming to watching movies, photo / video editing and photography etc etc
While this maybe true for most people, there's a tiny minority that doesn't use their phone as heavily, or they do that just occassionally, so for their limited use with phones they don't want something too big, it's like a brick

The smartphone is a computing device for most people and larger screen is always better. It's bears out in the sales data. There is no significant people who use small phones. You have a loud minority that say they like small phones. Then don't go to buy them.
